Coolsky DC-9 Released!

Featured Replies

the coolsky DC-9 runs great on my system :good:   I bought it last night and it's simply amazing, it's going to pull me away from xplane10 for a few weeks in order to learn this super study sim payware.

Is there any payware plane for any flight sim that you don't have it? :)

This one is on my list, but i'm still thinking if it is worth, i have leonardo maddog and i don't belive this one can be very different... In any case, i don't belive this one is better, excepting graphics

The Coolsky DC-9 is the Maddog's older and better-looking sibling...think of her as the drop-dead gorgeous older sister that attracted all of those strange boys to the house. :P

i'm downloading McPhat HD Payware Liveries from their site as I type this  and the TSS Sounds from Simmarket. :yahoo:

I purchased the CoolSky DC9 a few days ago, and that was quickly followed by the TSS JT8D sound package. I am very pleased with it so far, although I only fly my planes "low and slow" around the UK, so I don't really need to learn the full set of procedures. I get enough of a kick out of realistic flight dynamics, good engine sounds, great quality 3D models and VCs, and ATC interaction that I don't need to worry about anything else! I am always prepared to pay good money for a combination like that, and the CoolSky DC9 is the icing on my nice, compact payware fleet cake

I wanted to try the free sample UHD livery before I bought a livery set, but after withdrawing it when their new site went active, McPhat has decided providing freeware livery sample is not a priority.

"In all fairness I have to say that at the moment we have more pressing matters to solve and work on than bring back online our freeware section (that we have to reconfigure from scratch)."

sigh :Rolling Eyes:

Gotta say though, I bought this model a few weeks ago and I really enjoy it!

I am quite happy with the quality of the release package colour schemes (I use the SAS version), and also the quality of the VC textures. I was expecting to have to purchase the VC upgrade package, but at the moment I do not need it.

Is it just me, or does it take quite a bit of runway to stop the DC9 after touchdown?

Compared to a heavily auto-braked and thrust reversed NGX, yes. But you should be able to stop on Burbank's (KBUR) 5,800' runway ok, since they did.

Mike Dryden

I tend to use thrust reversers/spoilers on other airliners after touchdown, and then apply the wheel brakes when I disengage the reversers. This is because FSX tends to make the wheel brakes far too effective, and I get a more realistic rollout when I use the above method. However, it's possible that the DC9 requires me to use wheel brakes and thrust reversers/spoilers at the same time.....

I have noticed that there is something like 600kg in Station 5, and over 800kg in Station 6 (with respect to the payload) after I have booted out all of the passengers. There doesn't seem to be any obvious way to get rid of this excess payload, since the normal method does not work. Does anyone here know what I mean, and is there a solution?

I have also noticed that my save state does not retain the correct amount of fuel. For example, if I set the fuel load to 50% and perform a quick take off/enter the pattern/landing/taxi to parking sequence, the fuel will have dropped by a certain amount. All well and good. However, when I load the save state again (ie. before I conducted the short test flight), the fuel will be down to 45%, or even lower. Does anyone know why this happens??

Are there no other CoolSky DC9 pilots out there that can answer my question?

I would try in the coolsky Forums,

Espen or one of the DC9 types might be able to help you there,

more of them :)
