OK, well that doesn't make me happy. I guess I'll go somewhere else with my question.

I think there's more to Peppy197's comment than you think. If you optimise your FSX setup, you should get a nice smooth visual experience - smooth enough that your FPS might be on the low side but you wouldn't even notice it.

I re-installed Windows and FSX recently, took the time to configure it for best performance and then I turned off the FPS counter. It ruins the immersion anyway. I recently turned it on and saw that I was getting 15-16 with a particular aircraft, but it was so smooth that I didn't realise it.

I can run 30FPS on P3D without having to go to 6GHz. I am at 4.8GHz. right now. For example, just picked up the new Aerosoft US Cities X - Los Angeles. With one 27" display I can easily stay close to 30, with three displays (Nvidia Surround), I am in the low 20's.

And probably next year when P3D v2.0 comes out I probably won't have to worry about FPS anymore at all, ha!

Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)  Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11),  EVGA 1300W PSU
Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

Happy BBQ!

LOL!

To the OP:

If you can hit 6GHZ, please run the FSXMark11 test! :Big Grin:

Is this a troll thread? I can't tell anymore....lol

Me neither, but I am really thinking about it.

Me neither, but I am really thinking about it.

I've yet to post to this thread as I saw no point....As what has been said above:

Pretty much says it all...

I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

I don't know.....

I first entered computing through overclocking, and in fact the first site I ever joined was an overclocking site. It was very wild and crazy then (computers immersed in oil!) and in many ways I can only liken the overclocking community as an analog of this one; very technical in some aspects, very dedicated, very willing to spend outrageous amounts of money....

Perhaps because of that, I didn't find this users request all that outrageous.

Because FSX is so cpu dependent, It makes an interesting overclocking gauge (if you are also into this hobby) and that's primarily what I thought of it as for quite a long time before I ever discovered this community. I have seen plenty of pictures of Kentucky fried Cpus as a result of peoples experiments (usually turned into jewelry) and in that community, a blown Cpu or Gpu is just one of those things that sometimes happens. (though that is much less so than previously; overclocking is child's play now)

Whether this particular poster was serious or not, the attempt, or at least the desire to make it is not really that "out there" and Youtube is full of videos of people bragging about running FSX at the latest massive overclock. 5.2ghz steady is the highest I have seen, which makes 6 a nice ambitious target for bragging rights.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.
