Will there be another MSFS? Should there be another MSFS?

I just can't see a reason for Microsoft to revisit this.

I can't either. I can't envision any scenario that brings a new MSFS. I just hope something come along that can support the third party ecosystem we enjoy now.

Well put and I agree it's time we all accept Flight is MS's finale in flight simming.

But as the OP said, the interesting question is where do we go from here. There's clearly a huge market waiting to be exploited by a truly comprehensive sim with a dlc model. P3D v2.0 sounds promising although details are light. What I would love to see is the big developers (Orbx, Carenado, PMDG, Aerosoft etc etc) start working together on a sim, each bringing their particular expertise to the table. It's a mouthwatering prospect which a bit of sound project management could make hugely profitable.

Taking LM out of the picture for a moment...

It would be great if all of the 3rd party developers came together in a 'consortium' to create a new Flight Sim title, but personally I think there's too much personality conflict (read: ego) between the 3rd parties that would allow something like that to occur. I would also think that no one wants to endure the backlash of negative publicity if the Sim fails, for whatever reason.

It seems to me that the FS Community is one that will never truly be satisfied with whatever is put out in the Consumer Market, short of physically learning how to fly. NO amount of features, aircraft, terrain, location or performance would ultimately make a difference, because there's always someone who isn't satisfied.

Catch-22? Maybe it is. Maybe we're all too picky, and whiny at times. Maybe we should all GROW UP.

I have seen the first question asked over and over and over. I think the 2nd question should be asked first. .

That brings me to the 2nd question. SHOULD THERE BE ANOTHER MSFS?

Hi. may be SHOULD BE UPDATES AND ADDITIONS FOR MSFS(2004,X) from developers? It`s perhaps better too, as fair alternative. So, what about it? =)

Nor can I. Microsoft decided FS11/Next wasn't worthwhile continuing with several years ago even though it had an experienced development team in place. It must be even less worthwhile now given the additional start-up costs needed to resurrect it..

After Flight's failure, I can't see anyone in Microsoft even thinking of asking for funding for the foreseeable future.

I'd also suggest that the likelihood any anyone else starting deveiopment is pretty well zero for the same reasons - the costs would high and the returns uncertain - not to mention the inabilty to use Microsoft's proprietory information.

Similarly, I can't see 3PDs forming a development consortium to do it either. Could they agree on the content of the new simulator, putting money in up-front, co-operating over the development period, etc etc.

Does anyone think Google could make a Flight Simulator? Like "Google Flight"? I've tried Google Earth's flight simulator using my joystick. Though not nearly as entertaining as FLIGHT I did have some fun flying the F-16 over Indianapolis and New York (with 3D buildings enabled). Who knows, maybe Google will one day take advantage of their platform and give us a decent flight simulator. GEFS Online shows it's possible. Just a thought...

When bean counters make the decisions...nope

When a smaller outfit that is passionate about flight simming comes along, give them all the support they deserve in regards to whats financially viable

Not much really, or Aerofly would be swimming in support.

Pretty lonely at the AeroflyFS forum. Check it out. I have not got very far into it yet. Been stuck on Flight. But I am having fun with it. If given a chance it will grow.

Aerofly looks fantastic but I'm not much into GA.

You know which company should really consider making a flight sim?

Boeing.

I'm serious.

Does anyone have the CEO's email address?

I have checked it out and keep regular tabs on it. ^_^

One of their problems I think, is really crappy distribution. Its not on shelves, and is barely known outside of the community. People who do happen to become aware of it find that their only option is mail order, and many (including me) loathe mail order software.

This also creates the deadly situation of pirated software being more convenient to acquire than the actual game. (this is not even considering the price)

Xplane is walking into the same situation even as we speak by releasing a cut down North American version of Xplane10, then neglecting to make it available as an online download.

I picked it up at Airventure 2012 at their booth. It was a choice between AroflyFS and Xplane 10. I talked to people at both booths. Arofly seemed to offer more of what I was looking for even if it is somewhat limited at this time. I am hoping to see it expand, should be interesting. There are versions for both Mac and PC. All updates as I understand it will be downloads.
