October 20, 201213 yr Wow, looks really nice, I'll be getting the England parts, it's one of my most flown destinations: EGLL and EGKK. While at it, they should do Ireland too!

October 20, 201213 yr Commercial Member I'll be breaking out my wallet for sure, this looks amazing. Personally, I'd love Scotland to come next. I've been tempted by some of the photoreal for that though, especially for the highlands, I wonder if that might be preferable. I love orbx for flying in the bush and in areas with tons of autogen, but once you get in places that are more barren, nothing seems to beat photoreal. A place for both in my sim I guess! October 20, 201213 yr Best thing for us Brits ever! Can't wait to have a realistic looking home country in FSX Gavin Price
October 20, 201213 yr Can't wait to have a realistic looking home country in FSX Realistic
October 20, 201213 yr Yeah realistic what's wrong with that? Yeah realistic what's wrong with that? I don't think there's anything wrong with that I don't think there's anything wrong with that You say that there is but I say that there isn't Ooh yeah baby, nothing, no nothing at all I don't think there's anything wrong with that ooh nooooooo. Sorry are we having a sing song here or am I getting confused?
October 20, 201213 yr Realistic and landclass is an oxymoron. Sorry, I mean a more realistic England than the default FSX scenery. Gavin Price
October 21, 201213 yr Seriously? A desktop PC and realistic? Any disagreement over definition is splitting hairs compared to actual real. Mike Dryden
October 22, 201213 yr Nevertheless, GHD is correct. Whilst ORBx produce what is easily the best landclass style scenery ever seen, FTX England will not allow identification of most of the specific features and landmarks that photoscenery can (including golf courses, power stations, electricity substations etc). It will also display green fields and trees in certain areas that should be industrial or urban (check out the screenshots of the Barrow-in-Furness area in a separate thread on the ORBx forum). Of course, landclass can't be absolutely perfect in this regard, but some of us prefer to see realistic images of the buildings and terrain. Now, of course you could argue that photoscenery is rather "flat" as far as buildings are concerned, whereas FTX England appears to have autogen buildings in abundance. These will be a tremendous asset as far as "perceived realism" is concerned, but I am hoping that something similar for UK photoscenery will be created at some point in the future. The question is........when? October 22, 201213 yr Author Commercial Member You’re quite right Christopher, and I would much prefer to see the UK covered in high quality photoreal textures, with accurately placed 3d buildings and trees, seasonal variations and believable night lighting..........like Earth Simulations have done with Alderney. But, given the time it takes to produce something like a small island (they couldn't even produce a package with a few islands in it), I seriously doubt that we'll ever get to see a country done to these standards - unfortunately. For me at least, photoscenery in 2d and one season; well it seems just strange. Admittedly, adding the trees package for the UK makes things better in some ways, but it's also actually worse in others i.e. flat buildings in a village accompanied by 3d trees. Default textures and landclass were just nasty in the UK, the addition of GEX and UTX with an added Landclass package was a massive and cost effective way of dealing with this (and still is for the size of the area they cover). But, until ES do for the UK what they've done for Alderney, this new package from ORBx look like it will do very nicely indeed...........even if I can't see my house. Cheers Paul Golding
