OPUSFSX : Stay away?

Folks, it is a hobby, ease up a little.

I think it is the money spent on the hobby that causes the tension  ....but yes I do agree. Ease up a little. B)

Well...i have been reading about the OPUS product, the comments on this forum from both Stephen and Cheryl have been professional and polite; in fact i have been thinking of purchasing once they have sorted out the historical weather and the winds aloft data. Nothing i have read here is making me change that view point. It looks and sounds like a small company with good customer service and a good product.

I agree....I haven't used it but this thread made me aware if it. Also shows the challenges our FSX developers face with these products as it is impossible to make everyone happy. This one seems to have a few features I like so worth giving the demo a try.

Alex, I think you have made flight simmers more aware of the Opus weather engine. Dragging your complaint to the Hangar forum has probably been the best advertising they could ask for.

As you are very forum aware, I still cannot fathom why you did not ask other users, or even ask the developers why you did not get the weather you expected.

You have been around FS long enough to know that just one incorrect setting can ruin the experience. I still think you are playing games with us, and I won't be sucked in by your childish behavior.

think what you wish man, I think you missed my point completely. I have nothing against the software [i have bought it]. I had an issue with the responses I got.

Maybe so, but it still could have been sorted without dragging to the masses. That's my point.

Kind of like this:

Norrington: You are without doubt the worst pirate I've ever heard of.

Captain Jack Sparrow: But you have heard of me.

Best line ever

Anyhow...I am downloading the demo right now to give it a try

I have the latest beta, uninstalled, and ran ezca without a hitch.

I then went to my natural point folder, and reverted my two files back, and then used the sim as before.

but of course i quickly reinstalled it...

i dont see an issue with the uninstaller.

I'm going to break and side with the OP. We all have a choice on how to spend our money. The customer purchased the program, it didn't work as advertised on his system and he advised the developer. At that point the developer can either suggest fixes (which it appears they did.. so kudos to them), or offer a refund. But for a developer to take it personally and single out the customer as the "Only" one who's ever had a problem, well that is childish and ill-advised from a service standpoint. I have a business and every now and again have difficult customers. When it gets to a point where there is no solution I refund or make it right in some other manner. I would never dream of dressing the customer down no matter how big of a pain they may be. My two cents.

The customer purchased the program,

No, it was the demo. Also Flight 1 have a 30 day money back policy. I agree with some of your points, in the end, the OP purchased so it has turned into an unnecessary drama that could have been resolved a bit more diplomatically.

I agree with you actually.

While I disagree that this is a hard coded issue with the software, which I own and tried to reproduce but couldn't. I also think this should have went straight to PM or E-mail to sort out.

I think this kinda looks bad, and that is a shame because their software as it stands in my books is almost an instant "must have start up FSX addon"

I too work in an area where customers have an tendency to get pretty upset. (Read Part Manager at a Dealership, who would think. Lol) and when it usually hits a head like that, I refund a perfectly good part and offer them something so they don't stay angry or bad mouth my dept

After all. The most important advertising is word of mouth. 1 billon in ads couldn't beat that.

I am not saying they should just refund him and give him a discount, but that while I find no issues with the software at all, and think they do actually have top notch support, this could have been handled way way better.

Oh how true this is. Just learned that lesson last week with another excellent piece of software that cost me two days of frustration. You live and learn.

Exactly Rick. Sometimes it can be just a tick in the box. I am forever guilty at not reading manuals :)

This thread is full of LOL. God forbid a developer makes a human mistake and says something to bunch up someone's panties. As soon as someone feels a developer has hurt their feelings, they feel a need to start a witch hunt. Dude, just get a refund, call it a day and continue on with your life.
