OPUSFSX : Stay away?

Featured Replies

I wanted to post about an issue, and the reply I got was seeped in arrogance. MAkes me want to stay away from it

You are the first person to be unimpressed, perhaps you didn't install correctly. To tidy your configs untick enable Live View and restart OpusFSX, the latest beta posted today does this automatically.

Cheryl

This is after countless of issues reported on forums and youtube.

I replied with this

Cheryl I have seen countless posts on these forums and others, so I do not appreciate that statement.

I did a test flight at friday harbour, the weather had 100m visibility. I shot up [default A321] into the sky, the weather quickly cleared and I could see the ground perfectly through gaps in the cloud. I dived down into one of these gaps and suddenly no visibility again.

The installer should revert the default views I think.

There is a lot to be improved but suggesting that your product is perfect is not going to improve it Cheryl.

Now now calm down, you ARE the first of thousands not to be impressed. We are not saying it is perfect, far from it. But it IS the FIRST time you have EVER had real detailed weather from horizon to horizon.

AND THAT IS A FACT !

So stop trying to muddy the waters, if you don't like it then fine, use something else.

Stephen

I am amazed actually

To be fair your half of the conversation wasn't exactly angel like either. You came across as a little abrasive, at least that's what I felt when I first read it and it was probably the same for Stephan and Cheryl.

Did you even try Cheryl's suggestion?

If you really had a problem with it don't you think it would have been better to take it up in a pm? Probably.

We couldn't care less that you don't like OPUS, but you don't have to put your dirty laundry here.

I probably shouldn't have even replied but Stephen and Cheryl have some of the best support for an fsx product I have seen and I don't like to see it talked about like this.

Regards

Lee

Lee,

All I said was I had an issue with the uninstall and I wasn't impressed with the product.

It does not warrent AN ALL CAPS RAGE,

it does not warrant saying that other weather engines are inferior,

It does not warrant an arrogant response saying that I am the first user to be unimpressed.

Don't you agree?

I have read of a couple other people having your issue also but I have been unable to reproduce it at all.

Have or did you try the newest Beta? I knew I had issues with TrackIR before I did and it is working perfect for me.

As for the vis, again, I have not been able to see it either, and I used badbadweather.com to find those conditions.

Are you by any chance still maybe running a different weather program still that has the auto load like REX does? Also, what did you set your FSX weather settings to? I set mine to User Defined and have no issues.

William Sequeira

aceridgey,

Funny how two people can read different things from the exact same letters.

Cheryl could have just told you 'Too bad, but good luck in the future'.

But no, Cheryl points out some advice that may help you evaluating their product, how is that arrogant and promoting the product as perfect?

Stephen then tries to calm you down, as your tone seems a bit on the aggressive side, and points out some of the strong features of their product.

I do not see arrogance in this.

From your test you seem to have experienced an 'weather anomaly'. Great, why not work on that?

You are not a novice, so weather anomalies in FSX should not be a surprise.

I am still following this product very closely and they seem to have introduced innovative design and methods to weather in FSX.

Isn't that just great for our hobby?

Well, I am happy to "try it again" I will not pay for it, demo only, until the attitude of those developers changes.

I disagree with you mate. Not even the greats at pmdg say their product is perfect.

Please point out to me then where the developers use the word 'perfect'?

The only place I can find is where Stephen points out that its not perfect.

She said that I am the only user to ever experience problems.

Backed up by Stephen saying that it is FACT that this will show 100% real weather that has never been seen before in FSX.

Come on Alex, you are reading things into this.

Cheryl tells you that you are the first to be unimpressed that she knows of. True or false, you simply cannot read a claim of 'perfection' into that.

Right before Stephen tells you that their product delivers real weather from horizon to horizon, he actually states that the product is far from perfect?

He is obviously proud of this product and one of the main features in real weather from horizon to horizon. Give people a break.

I don't see any "arrogance." To the contrary, it looks like they're trying to help. IMHO this is blown out of all proportion and that's if there was any proportion to begin with. You are reading things into the replies that simply aren't there...

Hmmmm...

...i'm not sure how you managed to read what you read into any of those comments, but you did.

And i doubt that you'd ever have the courage to admit that you're wrong, but you are.

I urge anyone to have doubts about this software as a result of the OPs RANT to head over to the OpusFSX forum where you'll find a vibrant, helpful, informative crowd (both developers and users) only too willing to help with any queries.

As for the question in your topic heading (stay away?), yes, please do.

You really won't be missed.

With all due respect, with 2 posts and a join date of 3weeks, you are telling me to stay away because you don't agree with what I have put?

I can't see anything wrong with Cheryl's and Stephen's posts, I find their posts very friendly and profesional, no arogance there. And nobody says that Opus is perfect or something like that.

Are you trying to make them bad publicity or what?
