Boeing 767?

Featured Replies

I know that PMDG doesn't care if another development team is doing an airplane, but I'm not sure that the 787 will indeed be next. There just isn't a whole lot of flight data on it, and another team (let's just call them FallityThings) is doing it, and if it's up to their recent snuff it looks like a bang-on job. We will see however, and I'd love to be proven wrong!

Up to snuff? Fallity's recent product is essentially a 'lite' product so I doubt their offering will offer what the T7 will for instance. Why wouldn't PMDG come up with an in depth systems' sim of the 787 concurrently. The market for that is always there with the tubeliner crowd.

I personally think the B777 is just a better version of the B767, so a PMDG version of the latter is unnecessary, especially when we have Level-D, McPhat, and Turbine Sound Studios. I think a widebody Airbus would be a desirable next project. I would prefer the A350 over the B787, especially after seeing the new cockpit images.

Yea even now I drool over the A350, it was nice to see the cockpit already powered up and the aircraft isn't even fully assembled yet.

I agree it may be a little lite, but it's a huge step forward from their last bird, and the 787 is only supposed to be better. I personally enjoy it a great deal, I just wish the VNAV could track consistently....Anywho, holding another company to the gold standard of PMDG is ridiculous. No other company comes close to this level for modern airliners, so you can't complain that Fallity's offering isn't up to the PMDG standards. The snuff I was referring to is their recent work, which is may we say...Quality.

When I first purchased the B757, I enjoyed it, but when I dug into the PMDG B747, I could no longer stand flying it. The visual models are quite good (especially the animations and HD versions), but the performance isn't as good as that of the PMDG B747 either.

Didn't PMDG say they would never do an Airbus? They seem to be very Boeing orientated (nothing wrong with that), so for them to do an Airbus might be "interesting" to say the least.

I'd love to see a 787.

737 NG - Boeing

737 NGX - Boeing

MD-11 - Boeing

747 - Boeing

777 - Boeing

DC-6 - Boeing?

Slight trend there... ^_^

Best regards,

Robin.

But there was that "surprise project" that was mentioned at the Aerosoft convention. It would be very surprising if PMDG decided to make an Airbus. Perhaps Airbus endorsement and resources are less easily accessible from the United States.

My favorite Airbus aircraft is currently the A330. If PMDG happens to reproduce it, I hope they do a good job with the gear animations. This seems to be a difficult part to design, seeing the horrible animations of the CLS A330 gear. I have mentioned previously that even the PMDG B747 gear animations are unrealistic in the way they untilt during rollout.

As far as I can remember they usually say they have no plans to do an Airbus for now. That doesn't mean it's never gonna happen, because I'm convinced it is. The Boeing trend obviously can't continue forever. The market of nowadays is very demanding, people get easily bored and always ask for something new. I'd say, a good next project would be an Airbus. Because they couldn't get any license in the past doesn't mean they can't get it now. And even without so much access to Airbus' data as they have to Boeings data, doesn't mean they can't reproduce one.

We've certainly made non-Boeing aircraft:

J41 = BAe

MD-11 = McDonnell-Douglas

DC-6 = Douglas

That said, we have no plans aside from what's announced - that's 777, DC-6, and 747-400/-8 2.0. The chance we're going to make a 757/767 is slim to none.

I'm just satisfied fly the 737NGX. How can it get any better than that?

I think one could spend a lifetime learning and improving on flying the NGX. Look at Angle of Attack. There is a ton of information in that program, and it is not finished yet.

Leave Airbus to FSL and Boeing to PMDG. Best of both worlds.

But we have not yet seen a solid example of FSL quality when it comes to modern, glass cockpit aircraft. Hopefully, the FSL A320 will live up to everyone's expectations.
