Majestic Q400 Trailer

I'm really looking forward to getting this, but now that X-Plane 10 has released a 64bit version, I wish all of these real complex aircraft would aim versions for X-Plane 10 64bit, so OOM errors would not be an issue.

OOM isn't an issue. Anyone who has problems with FSX has configuration problems or corruption somewhere

By configuration problems, if you mean turning down all of the sliders, that shouldn't be an issue with a powerful computer that includes an Ivy Bridge i7, 12Gigs of RAM and GTX680. I can't even use much AI traffic without getting an OOM error.

I have been told that this is an issue caused by FSX being a 32bit software.

Looks great! So much exciting stuff coming up this year. I'm worried my system and bank account wont be able to handle it all :S

The startup phase alone is worth getting it. Well, they may not be that cheap, judging from the previous releases. But the detail, even on the WR, looks amazing and since their aiming point on the system depth is 'top', there's no doubt about the great potential.

I wished I had more time to fly in 2013. Either way, when it's out, the reports are welcome. Great video in the meantime.

My aircraft addon budget for 2013 has been blown to bits with all the amazing addons coming up. This one included. I dont think it will be cheap, so the food cupboard might be a little empty lol.

FSX limitations?? What limitations. I cant believe this stuff comes out of an age old platform.

Hi

I added the checklist of Dash 8 to checkplane.com.

Some one know Oleksiy Frolov? I think is the author of this checklist, I cannot find his email.

I added the link of his website as author.

Regards

True. But this seems to work in both ways. I think they've pulled quite some tricks (outside of the sim stuff) to achieve what they've wanted. So one may have to check the reports if that comes with a downside on e.g. FSUIPC calibrated controls and things.

The only limitations are the developer's skill and imagination.

No, there are limitations. You can't have over a certain number of animations, for example. PMDG pushes it to the limit with their virtual cockpits. The one problem that cannot be solved is the heavy dependence on the CPU and not using DX10/11 properly for better performance.

That still doesnt limit the functionality that a dev can implement.

I was being somewhat sarcastic anyway. Of course there are limitations because of what programmers did back in the mid 2000s and what knowledge they had. That is the foundation devs have to work with today. I just was pointing out that its amazing the aircraft that are produced from FSLabs PMDG and now majestic with the extremely sophisticated aircraft relative to what FSX was intended for and the default aircraft it had at the time.

You can only push or pull for that matter a rubber band so far before it breaks.

Perhaps if FSX was more solid and more up to date it wouldnt take 4 years to develop some of these aircraft because im sure half of that time is trying to circumvent an fsx bug or limitation.

Anyhow Its what we simmers live for and really appreciate their work.

It looks incredible, maybe too incredible... at least for me. The NGX, I'm finding, is almost too complex for me...

Haha, I'm with you Ryan.

I'm finding the increasing complexity and fidelity of FSX aircraft is making it all the more frustrating when you try to jump from one to t'other. For me it's becoming even more important to stick with one plane and try and get really proficient, yet before I can do that another dazzling one comes along and I have to go back to flight school!

I think I'm going to give this one a miss because I've only just got my head around Airbus basics, and the forthcoming FSL product promises enough complexity for a while. Probably....

Wish I had more brain cells...

"our weather radar does not use the FSX clouds. Instead we analyze the weather report around the aircraft and at several hundreds weather stations around, and make the assumption about the reflectivity based on the beam geometry, the cloud layers heights, the types of clouds and the reported precipitation"

Which again is inadequate if the data comes from FSX weather stations due to weather smoothing mechanisms (eg Active Sky 2012's direct weather control -> all FSX stations globally, at any given time, have the same weather -> the weather of the aircraft's current station).

This will work only if they download and process METARs directly from the internet, bypassing FSX and the weather engine.

OOM isn't an issue.

For some very specific and very poorly designed-coded products (eg EFHK) it is.

According to a post by Andy Wilson at FSLabs, they too have brought a lot of the modelling (including engine and drag models) outside of FSX, meaning they can pass off some of the calculations to the GPU. I can't wait to see it in action.

+1 and getting on track that trailer look's s?#t hot!
