Do you punish yourself if you crash?

Featured Replies

For those of you who try to make FSX as realistic as possible do you punish yourself if you crash, like go without alcohol for a week?

This should be an interesting thread.

Personally I birch myself at least 15 times if I crash (number can change depending on severity of crash).

OP changed. Not so much fun now.

Last time I crashed I denied myself sex for a month. The wife didn't notice, but the girlfriend was so cross she dumped me...

But that's FSX for you.

I do have a rule that if I crash I have to re-

fly the entire flight. So yes.

If I ever crash, I revert to a virtual flashback and put myself in the jungles of 'nam. My cockpit is shattered, and a giant tree has me lodged in the seat. As the NVA get closer, I take out my virtual cyanide (aspirin) and end it all. They aren't getting any info from me.

what about self erasing aircraft in case of a crash ? We would be more careful and it would be good for the business too

FSX to me is for learning, and if I crash...I first try and figure out why I crashed. Then I thank God I'm in FSX.

Then I re-fly the route and learn from my mistake.

This helps so so much. Teaches me very powerful lessons that we as real pilots tend to forget. I.e. SCAN your instruments.

Flying single IFR it's very easy to get caught up in tuning radios, talking, looking at maps, that one can easily forget, they where descending to assigned altitude and one had pulled back the throttle, so not to over speed, and the auto pilot has reached the assigned altitude and one forgot to bring back up the power. Try this at night in IMC, it's very important to SCAN.
