Till they change the gun laws in the usa the shootings will continue to happen

Just curious what laws you would suggest be changed to stop people who murder with guns.

Pete...on what research or factual evidence do you base your presumed correlation between more restrictive gun laws and less gun violence? Cities in the US that have passed by far the most restrictive gun laws have seen about a 300% increase in gun violence (Wash DC and Chicago esp). The UK and Australia have both seen their "murder by gun" rates increase by about 20% since they passed more restrictive legislation. People cite comparative data between countries, but fail to cite the data from prior to the new legislation. Every factual study I have seen establishes the same correlation, because new laws just create more "gun free" zones, which criminals welcome since they seem not to have much regard for adhering to laws. Not of the new laws proposed in the US in response to SH shooting would have prevented it; same with prior horrific incidents, and they are horrific, but responding with well intentioned laws which reduce the ability of law abiding citizens to defend themselves and prevent crime has always produced the same result in all the research I have seen. If only we could get the criminals and mentally ill to regard the law as much as you I would be in full agreement.

GUN FREE ZONES DO NOT WORK! Just look at how the criminals obey those laws...... Let people conceal carry in those areas and bam, done, likely hood of someone trying something stupid goes down to about zilch.

If you think banning guns will solve the problem, remember people arent supposed to kill one another its illegal, that does not stop murderers of any kind now does it? Perhaps we should also make Meth and Crack Cocaine illegal, oh wait.....

Are you afraid to go to Detroit? A word from the professionals who ought to know:

Last time I went to Oshkosh we were to catch a flight from KDTW to Sarasota. We arrived at the hotel close to the airport in the evening, and I figured I'd talk a stroll down the streets to see if I could catch a glimpse of any landing/departing airplane at KDTW. When I told the receptionist what I intended to do, she gave me a bewildered look and said something like "I very strongly advice you not to set your foot outside the hotel building in the evening"! I come from a place where people usually never lock their houses, even leave their car keys in the car,no one ever gets mugged and I have no idea what a guy high on drugs looks like. Quite a wake up call I guess...

Didn't think anyone really flew into KSRQ anymore :P , welcome to my hometown, current place of residence and flight training! That being said in Sarasota/Bradenton about 48% of the population has a CCWL (Concealed Carry), do you feel safe in Sarasota?

Haha, I did feel very unprotected but against the sun. Two-three hours at Siesta key with no lotion had me scrambling for the pool at the friends house for the rest of my time there! Another lesson learnt...;)

What CNN isn't reporting is this was a Gang retaliation shooting. It wasn't intended for any other target than a gang member. The janitor got in the way when trying to break up the fight. I'm not justifying these actions, but CNN is trying to build this up into a big hype when it happens everyday many times in Chicago... gang members killing each other. This one just happened to be on a community college campus.

No gun law will disarm a gang member... Guaranteed.

Sincerely,

Chase

Bear bait...

One of the best and truest things in this thread. The rest of this thread is mostly insipid, political rhetoric we've all heard before...
