February 16, 201313 yr Wait, haven't I see the picture showing the main pax door opening outwards? I know all the emergency exits are essentially tapered plugs and have to be pulled inwards after being unlocked, after depressurization of course... Doors are pulled inwards, released and then opened outwards... But they need to come in a fair bit before you can twist them and open them... Rónán O Cadhain.
February 16, 201313 yr Aircraft doors like to whistle some times, nothing to worry about, just a lose seal, 99+% of the time the flight crew won't even be told about it. In a few cases we will, we'll stroll out, take a quick glance at the door and give it a "Ara sure it'll be grand" before getting back to the cockpit. They can get annoying alright, which is probably why the crew here put a few pillows against it to perhaps muffle out the noise to not annoy passengers, but no one was ever in danger, doors open inwards in planes, never going to be any issues whatsoever. Ah yes...of course, because safety is no accident... (Sorry I couldn't resist)   Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
February 16, 201313 yr A380 doors (not emergency). Quite a door indeed. Note how it retracts the 'locking clamps'. That retraction on non A380 types can be seen a bit better . I never liked the emergency construction on the A320 for it's more counter-intuitive method. Says nothing about how good or bad it works though. The is different to that. The (not the ones before the NG) made the best impression so far.

February 16, 201313 yr A380 doors (not emergency). Quite a door indeed. Note how it retracts the locking clamps (not the actual word). That retraction on non A380 types can be seen a bit better . The (not the ones before the NG) made the best impression so far. Not about to start an A vs B thing here, are you?? When an aircraft gets pressurised, you will NOT be able to open anything that requires inwards movement, even if it is a few inches. Many years ago I had a crew on an MD80 who closed all doors whilst performing seat changes. The aircon packs were on and the cabin pressurised. As soon as I saw the doors closed I run to tell them to open a window or door before pressure built up, in a matter of the 2 minutes it took me to reach the front door, it was too late. The front doors open outward, but the release mechanism pulls the door in before it hinges out. It would not budge an inch. The windows felt like they had been welded in place. We had to wait until one of the engineers managed to shut down the APU as the external access panel was U/S. There is no way the door on this A380 would have opened the way the story reads, sounds more like someone seeking compensation, free flights or simply attention. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
February 16, 201313 yr They use a girl and she makes it look so easy, but what they don't tell you is she is not a flight attendant, she is actually a championship weightlifter. Now that's what I call critical thinking. ^_^ I was suspicious too, as on all people always smiling. By the way, since simulator flights are highly overrated, we should go for door trainers instead. http://www.edm.ltd.u...s-door-trainers As it seems, the A380 exits are always power assisted. I guess some accumulator takes care of the emergency cases and also allows a faster movement. And the best answer to 'can I open the doors inflight in an airliner?' of course is 'no, that's not allowed'. B) If you do though, bring duct tape! I wonder why passengers complain. Look at the poor pilots and their exits.
February 17, 201313 yr Oh yeah of course Daily Mail is never to be taken seriously, I've just lately felt that quality of journalism has gotten worse and worse in all news agencies, not just the ones that have always been horrible. Hahaha that site is awesome  The dear old Daily Mail -- at it again. Have some more chuckles here:-. February 17, 201313 yr I'm waiting for the Daily Fail's next aviation story, in which we are told of the unspeakable horror of impending certain death experienced by terrified passengers on a BA 747 after all four propellers fell off. James David Walley Ryzen 7 7700X, 32 GB, RTX 3080
