February 16, 201313 yr Hey, I just came across this on my twitter feed, and here is a link to the article. Airbus exit door situation was temp fixed by duct tape and blankets? how is this possible technically? Thoughts? http://www.news.com....0-1226579347708 skywolf How I Evaluate Third Party Sim Addon Developers Refined P3Dv5.0 HF2 Settings Part1 (has MaddogX) and older thread Part 2 (has PMDG 747)
February 16, 201313 yr Seems quite awkward! They mentioned that the emergency door blew 4cm outwards but the Airbus spokesman said that the doors on the 380 opens inwards. Lionel
February 16, 201313 yr Anyone care to buy this Island I have off the coast of ..... Sad that this sort of retarded fantasy gets attention. Short hop probably means FL370-410, certainly not FL270. Emirates A380 seat locations are as follows: Economy downstairs, First and Business on top. Read up the comments here (Am I allowed to do this?): http://avherald.com/h?article=45dcf5b6&opt=0 Not enough? http://www.pprune.org/rumours-news/508125-emirates-a380-door-pops-flight.html Waleed N
February 16, 201313 yr I will wait to see what happens with the investigation. It was probably safest to continue on route at a lower altitude but I am not sure how far along they were at that time. Scary for the passengers. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
February 16, 201313 yr Freezing air blasted in and the cabin pressure plunged after the door in business class came nearly four centimetres ajar, leaving a gaping hole, Mr Reid told the Daily Mail. Blast in at 27000ft through a 4 cm (1.5 inch) gap?? Mr Reid claims he suffered a chest infection following the ordeal and the pair had to cut short their $6,800 trip. No comment. Gerry Howard
February 16, 201313 yr The association of duct tape engineers approves the usage. ^_^ More seriously, could it just have been a wonky door seal? That's a condition I would consider manageable while a door developing a gap across the whole area in the sizes mentioned would soon equal a lost cabin window (or more). That's not something which lets you continue the flight at cruise levels I guess. Ha, chest infection. Nice detail and maybe explaining the dramatic description. Good catch. Edited. Just read Waleed's links. Thanks for those. Now I recall that 757 plunging to death again. ^_^ A TOURIST has told of his flight of terror when he claims an emergency exit on a superjumbo blew open at 27,000ft. That's how every good article starts, right?
February 16, 201313 yr I have experienced a similar event flying on a Qantas A380. There was a whistling type noise emanating from one of the doors and once we got above a certain altitude it stopped. The flight attendant said it was an Airbus thing and happens every now and then. I assume it has something to do with the pressurisation sealing around the door. So this guy has a private pilots licence. Perhaps a little knowledge in this case is dangerous. Firstly, if a 4 cm hole appeared, air wouldn't be rushing in, it would be rushing out along with other loose items in the cabin. Also, the oxygen masks would drop down above the seats. The crew wouldn't have continued at their altitude but would have descended below 15K. This is a beat up about nothing
February 16, 201313 yr Commercial Member This whole story is obviously more or less rubbish and this guy who claims to have private pilot license is probably intentionally lying or has really wild imagination / other problems. Shame on all these journalists releasing such stories without first verifying they are true.
February 16, 201313 yr Moderator Following the rat droppings carefully, I did find this wonderful link to "The Lazy Journalists Plane Story Generator"... http://radans.net/jens/planestory.html Here's tomorrows story for the "Daily Fail" Technical Glitch Scares Passengers Foreign passengers told of their terrible dreadful fear aboard a Darwin bound Eastern flight which was required to return to Brisbane yesterday due to small bits falling off. Some passengers were horrified that the 309 passengers were told few details of the kerfuffle. They said the plane 'Cracked in half like a boiled egg that was left in the water too long' before turning around. As a precaution, fire trucks were on standby when the Piper IL-62 landed. Passenger Nanna Shep last night was still recovering from the ordeal. 'The hostess shoved me out of the plane. I landed right on the concrete', the passenger said. Fr. February 16, 201313 yr Commercial Member You must remember this is the UK Daily Mail. Oh yeah of course Daily Mail is never to be taken seriously, I've just lately felt that quality of journalism has gotten worse and worse in all news agencies, not just the ones that have always been horrible. Following the rat droppings carefully, I did find this wonderful link to "The Lazy Journalists Plane Story Generator"... http://radans.net/jens/planestory.html Hahaha that site is awesome
February 16, 201313 yr "The Lazy Journalists Plane Story Generator"... http://radans.net/jens/planestory.html Hilarious!
February 16, 201313 yr Fixing a door with duct tape?? Tampax is much more effective!!!! http://www.vc10.net/Memories/testing_earlydays.html#VIPTampax Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
February 16, 201313 yr Aircraft doors like to whistle some times, nothing to worry about, just a lose seal, 99+% of the time the flight crew won't even be told about it. In a few cases we will, we'll stroll out, take a quick glance at the door and give it a "Ara sure it'll be grand" before getting back to the cockpit. They can get annoying alright, which is probably why the crew here put a few pillows against it to perhaps muffle out the noise to not annoy passengers, but no one was ever in danger, doors open inwards in planes, never going to be any issues whatsoever. http://radans.net/jens/planestory.html So that's where all these non-stories come from.... ^_^ :LMAO: Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
February 16, 201313 yr Moderator Wait, haven't I see the picture showing the main pax door opening outwards? I know all the emergency exits are essentially tapered plugs and have to be pulled inwards after being unlocked, after depressurization of course... Fr.
