March 1, 201313 yr Hi to everybody. I've a question for PMDG team. What do you think about xplane10? I've downloaded the demo and I was been shocked by the graphic and realism. Making a comparison between fsx and this simulator is impossbile, the last one wins for everything. here an example This is P3D (but it could be FSX, both are the same) of scenarios default [/ B], that is, you buy it and you see it that way. http://s8.imagestime.com/out.php/i831647_CFGAUTOCREATO.jpg [/ IMG] http://s9.imagestime.com/out.php/i831649_1.jpg [/ IMG] http://s8.imagestime.com/out.php/i831650_22FPSsu30DITARGET.jpg [/ IMG] Seen well? Ok. This is X-plane10 of scenarios default [/ B], or you buy it and you see it that way. http://s8.imagestime.com/out.php/i831652_airb.jpg [/ IMG] http://s8.imagestime.com/out.php/i831654_XPlane201212.jpg [/ IMG] http://s9.imagestime.com/out.php/i831655_cityday.jpg [/ IMG] http://s9.imagestime.com/out.php/i831656_kchQSvTeQoEYvVWMuQaL2WwfMYf6U.jpg [/ IMG] http://s8.imagestime.com/out.php/i831657_full13972503144.jpg [/ IMG] http://s9.imagestime.com/out.php/i831658_X.Plane.10AD.jpg [/ IMG] http://s9.imagestime.com/out.php/i831659_XPlane201210.jpg [/ IMG] http://s8.imagestime.com/out.php/i831666_full13972477123.jpg [/ IMG] http://s9.imagestime.com/out.php/i831667_B17Gxplaneingame01HD.jpg [/ IMG] http://s9.imagestime.com/out.php/i831668_XPlane201211.jpg [/ IMG] Now ... I say ... but you do not see that these two sim there is a world of difference? Our default FS look like toys designed with crayons. They are worth it. And look, I'm not lying: the screen XP10 I showed you are strictly default [/ B], there is a scene added! But you rightly say, "ok, but FSX and P3D can be improved by putting the addon scenery." And I tell you: "True. But even on X-Plane 10 can be improved by adding the addon scenarios." These are such addon (textures and buildings). http://s8.imagestime.com/out.php/i831669_adelaide1.jpg [/ IMG] http://s9.imagestime.com/out.php/i831670_XPlane10Helsinki.jpg [/ IMG] Not only. If you knew really what it looks like X-plane (I speak of "internal engine" and "graphics capabilities") you would know that X-Plane is vastly superior to FSX and P3D as to DETAIL image. This is because X-plane does not know the word "blur blurry or" in the map's scenes, and this allows us to generate images with unparalleled detail for FSX. Even the well-known designer of alpine mountains, FRANK, has fully demonstrated that the graphics capabilities of X-plane beat [/ B] the graphics capabilities of FSX and P3D. It has proven its mapping Monte Cervino in X-plane to show how amazing is the level of detail that this simulator is able to get (and keep getting a great framerate, no small account). http://s8.imagestime.com/out.php/i831672_28t8gzp.jpg [/ IMG] And you know what my anger more? E 'to see a gem of the genre, X-plane, which is not considered (almost) no one to blame for our stubbornness and greed in wanting to remain at all costs with a title (FS) which is ALWAYS been less than x -plane. Because this is the absolute truth. X-Plane is a simulator that if it had been equipped with all the avalanche of addons that have been "wasted" on FS (scenarios, airplanes, etc.), now would be a monstrous thing. It would be one thing you do not even imagine it! But since it is not ... is partly our fault too. We had the power to pass on x-plane. We had the power to make it famous. We had the power to attract all the SH of this unique title (which by its uniqueness also has the advantage of also be used not only on Windows and MAC). And we have all these things rejected [/ B], we did marameo, and now we find ourselves after 10 years (ten years!) To fly with pseudo simulators like FSX and P3D that if they landed in a bit heavy "crash" and that's it. We fly with pseudo simulators that allow us to land behind an ultralight aircraft in the wake of a Jumbo Jet 400 tons without the existence of the wake turbulence that we would crash. Structural failure? Do not have them, do not exist. Wake turbulence? Do not have them, do not exist. Bird strike? Do not have them, do not exist. Ice that accumulates on the wings and changes the lift of the plane? We did not, does not exist. Ground effect? We did not, does not exist. And these would FLIGHT simulators? No, these are toys (excluding PMDG products obviously). Toys that we love them and we must stick together only "vice", while the other side was a simulator with two balls so he could do great (in fact already makes, all the things I mentioned makes already) and have turned our backs for years. Now I think PMDG is the most important SH for the FS experience, and most probably any his decision is able to move flight simmers from a simulator to another. And if PMDG moves, the flight simmers move, and then the other SH move. It's a chain. So my question is why have you not ever considered Xplane? If you convert your last three products (NGX, 777 and 747v2) for this simulator i think we'll see drastic change!!! Hope some of you will answer! March 1, 201313 yr If you had simply searched for "Xplane" in the PMDG General Forum you could have read this which would have saved you the hour it took to write your post. - Jev McKee, AVSIM member since 2006. March 1, 201313 yr I think most of us and PMDG agree in part with you. As PMDG stated they are adapting a product for X-Plane 10. But it is not that simple making products with that level of quality for a whole new simulator, since they've always worked with MSFS. As Robert said some weeks ago, "Microsoft getting out of the picture is probably one of the best things that could've happened." Pedro Espindola
March 1, 201313 yr I see all your points. I tried the demo and it runs very smooth, and quite often graphics that are quite stunning especially the night displays. But there is alot of repetitive scenery. The logistics of setting up and using the VC in XPX is quite the learning curve and perhaps annoying. I think that we are on the brink of a major shift, and it will all depend on what the market of devs dictate. So far I have not seen all the major devs for FSX jump to x-plane. Biggest question, is if its the next big thing, then why have they not switched. Until that happens, devs keep making some quality stuff for FSX even though its ancient. Perhaps waiting to see what becomes of P3D (licencing aside) . After all there is many native installers for P3D. As much as XPX looks to have a great deal of potential, I personally find it kind of terrifying, probably because ive been with FSX and MSFS versions for so long, and built up so much addons and expense that just abandoning all that would seem hard to do, although inevitable someday unless a miracle happens with P3D compatibility. I dont see that happening. Perhaps PMDG making the jump over and stopping developing for fsx one day might be the turning point for everyone. Who knows. Just my 2C worth. March 1, 201313 yr Author I agree with all of you. Didn't noticed the post for xplane, thanks. There's few sceneries and addons 'cause most of the community is tied with MSFS, and is illogical for a SH developing a scenery/aircraft for a smll part of the community. Now, as reported by the Randazzo's sentence, the market may change and getting better! March 2, 201313 yr I agree with you here, X-plane is the most realistic simulator out there and it would be amazing if PMDG could export the NGX to X-plane 10. Of course all the addon scenery's would be awesome to have in X-plane too.
March 2, 201313 yr I think XPlane 10 is not going to replace FSX just yet. I really like how much progress they made compared to XPlane 9, but they still have a way to go if they want to make us switchover. It's mainly the airport sceneries and the UI that need work. I don't want to be spending $1000 just to get a fairly completely world of realistic airports. However, I do think XPlane 11 and definately XPlane 12, is going to be replacing FSX. It's going to take a few years, but I guess in 2016/2017 we have pretty much all made the shift. Arjen Vandervelde
March 3, 201313 yr Again???? Please stop these threads!!! Why? The OP showed me some things I hadn't seen before and I thought it was a decent comparison.
March 3, 201313 yr However, I do think XPlane 11 and definately XPlane 12, is going to be replacing FSX. Yes, but who knows by the time we have XPlane 12 there will be another simulator to compete with that. Since Microsoft is out and there's no one with a name that big win the market it leaves the it open for talented people to risk an investment. I know XPlane already has great experience and it counts a lot against any competition. But I believe there are things going on that we don't know about. Pedro Espindola
March 3, 201313 yr At the rate that X-Plane 10 is coming along and with the huge step forward in making it 64bit, I can easily see X-Plane over taking FSX very soon. Developers like FlyJSim, Ramzeess, JARDesigns, Carenado and J.Rollon are making some very high quality simulations for it and airport scenery from Aerosoft and True Scenery are simply stunning. I don't see much of anything that can hold it back now. Robert Yunque
March 3, 201313 yr I hope they succeed, I would make the swap if quality acrft were developed on par w/ FS9/X.......plus ATC such as RCV. I like what I am seeing. ALOT.

Now, as reported by the Randazzo's sentence, the market may change and getting better! I don't know how to upload a video but I saw one where a man made a full size sim out of the nose af a 737NG. He was being interviewd by a news team and said that he chose X-Plane 10 over FSX due to the fact that the flight model was more realistic. Any comment? Thanks, Ron Thanks, Ron Fields
March 3, 201313 yr So my question is why have you not ever considered Xplane? If you convert your last three products (NGX, 777 and 747v2) for this simulator i think we'll see drastic change!!! Hope some of you will answer! Thanks Hey Edoardo, Thank you very much for making this post. For one thing, I really enjoyed your great screenshots. So much, in fact, that I saved some of them. Also, I feel it is a good thing for PMDG to constantly hear from flight simmers about how much we would like to see them master building their sims for X-Plane. Maybe they will work harder at it, if they know there is a strong market for payware that is made for X-Plane 64bit. I don't care how many times they have given their view, or how many posts have been made, public pressure is a good thing, when it moves people to do the right thing. Thank you, Bob Robert Yunque
March 3, 201313 yr X plane 10 most realistic flight simulator ????? you're joking right ? x plane 10: cities with ugly shimmering autogens, with no ground textures no good atc no good weather horrific wheel and brake sounds on ground X plane 10 smooth ? not at all, go to paris or new york you'll have around 20-25 fps, 15 fps if HDR ON, or maxed traffic. of course if you watch the sky you'll get 100 fps
