McPhat NGX Release

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what has been solved/sorted? I know that they ran into altercations with PMDG, but are the repaints still being released? Is progress continuing towards release? I realize that the team has worked very hard on these, and that they would do anything possible to release the repaints ASAP, but I was just wondering.

Thanks!

I don't think they ever resolved their differences

Based on a post here last week, those skins are in the abyss. The updated status is that there's no relationship, or so I inferred, between McPhat and PMDG at this time.

Does that mean that they will ever be released?

Well some people have these repaints because they were released at one time. Of course for the rest of us that got there too late...I guess we are just out of luck  . I really never have heard a definite explanation for what the problem is, and it really seems strange to me given how many repaints that they have for other developers aircraft and even for the PMDG MD-11. Anyone know what the deal is?

The repaints will not be made available, and the gentleman from McPhat stated that "if you have them, please don't share or redistribute them."

I would have paid for just the Delta livery, but that's in the wind as well.

It goes way back when McPhat, said they could do a hi res livery at no FPS cost PMDG said no way to the point of calling them lie'ers, a war broke out. Bottom line was McPhat did it can still do them with no FPS loss

1-0 to McPhat

But I think PMDG had it in for them and stopped them releasing the NGX ones. Probably becasue PMDG have the copy right to the skins and I bet some clause about not charging for them. Petty is the word that comes to mind.

Sad that this happened. What's more disturbing is that they can't be released as freeware just as all the other NGX liveries out there.

I think they can be released as freeware, but McPhat has chosen now to burry it all, perhaps in the hope that silence will give PMDG some time to change their minds.

Although neither McPhat nor PMDG to my knowledge ever stated what the actual problem is, I believe it's because PMDG has a requirement for a license fee when 3rd party developers create addons for the NGX. Now this is my personal assessment and is not a stated fact, nor have I studied the EULA in such detail that I can proove this is the case.

I do know PMDG for some unclear reason, has never been font of McPhat and their products. Perhaps it's the whole idea of paying for liveries to which PMDG is opposed to.

At time of release of the first McPhat MD-11 package, there was also a long delay due to legal discussions with PMDG.

I just wish PMDG could shed some light on this, but I fear we have a better chance of getting a full 744v2 preview with HD movies before the end of this month :P

It certainly is a disappointment that happened. Of course we will never know the exact reason for this, but I can say that McPhat makes great liveries. And, it wouldnot be a bad idea if PMDG were to make the Hi-Def repaints for the NGX, since the current ones look pale and simple. What good is a hi fidelity a/c if it's painted poorly? Not too good!

but McPhat has chosen now to burry it all

Hi Frank,

That is not exactly what happened. Mr. Randazzo and I found a opening to start negotiations, but at the moment when it came to start thinking 'license agreement', mr. Randazzo decided he did not have the time for me or for the mutual fans McPhat Studios and PMDG have to arrange something.

Kind regards,
Dhierin Bechai

Always seemed a little off to me a livery developer selling liveries. Always has felt like the realm of the freeware developers to me. Still I suppose if people are willing to pay...

Would be horrible, however, if all freeware developers quit making liveries and the only way to get them was through the pay-ware route.... Perhaps it's just as well that they aren't available on PMDG planes :)

I do not clearly understand the first sentences of your post; however, I don't know if you have seen the liveries McPhat develops- or creates. They are HD and of great quality; not the typical ordinary repaints that comes out with PMDG or other developers. To create such a detailed and top quality repaint, requires a lot of skills, time and efforts.. How could I ask to have it for free? Impossible!

+100 - fab job, not your everyday repaints.
