Captain Cal Flanigan at Delta airlines has just retired after serving with them for 45 years and spending the last 8 years as their most senior pilot. One of the first African American pilots to enter the industry.

No bother at all. Thought it was a particularly nice story, but also pretty historic, not often someone spends 8 years topping the seniority list at their airline but also 45 years in it, he must have seen an awful lot of change take place both in the company, but also the industry, also historic as one of the first African American pilots in the industry, thought it was worth the share.

What a great career - certified on the DC-9, DC-8, MD-88, MD-11, L1011, 727 757 767 and 777.  He got to fly some of the classics !

He entered aviation at a time when the only real path to being an airline captain in the U.S. was through prior military pilot experience. He paid his own way. Remarkable. Congratulations, Captain Cal.
