Featured Replies

I think everyone (that enjoys flight) is hoping against hope that it will eventually become possible to move things around in there.

Building textures are in the CoreContent.pak in the main Flight installation folder. The objects can be found in the SceneryObjects folder of the pak file. Not sure if autogen building are there, but major/custom buildings and landmarks are there.

You will need a tool that can create pak files (7-zip is the best) to compile everything back into a pak.

I'm sure all of you are aware of this, but I will stress this once again. ALWAYS back up your files before messing around in them. Due to the structure of Flight ie..web based to some degree, if you mess something up it could lead to you losing part of your content and having to reinstall. Based on what I've seen in this forum, sometimes a reinstall can have it's own set of problems.

Public service announcement over.

Thank you.

If using steam, verify files after having fun with the files if you decide not to backup.

Hi Tony,

Just curious. B)   What building do you want to repaint?

Best regards.

Luis

Well...... It seems sim designers are very very (very!) fond of the color grey. Anything that added a dash of real-life variety to Flights buildings would be excellent.

But the thing that excites me is that I remember hearing in an interview that flight can use very high resolution ground textures. Unfortunately Microsoft seems to have only rarely used the capability. Seeing some of the poorer existing textures enhanced/corrected or replaced one day would be.... nice.

I would certainly agree with that, would be very nice!

That would certainly not be unpleasant:)

I'm guessing the water textures could also be revamped...?

I have never seen what I would call a problem with the water textures. I always thought they were pretty amazing.

hey Luis how are you? . After looking at some real pictures of hawai . and looking at some of the buildings in flight the question of repainting textures went around my head that was all ;-)...

Not sure about color, but the wave bump maps can be modified.

I think that's what I mean - the waves seem a bit too big or too widely spaced apart if that makes sense, to my eyes at least.

I too love the water textures and wouldnt change them

I was looking at this subject again today (while landing on rooftops!)  :P

They used such sharp, high resolution textures for buildings, but were very spare with those on the scenery.

But it seems the potential is certainly there........... Such bland colors though......
