March 14, 201313 yr Gentlemen....me thinks we will be seeing a lot of 777s flying "cross the pond" next weekend!! :Drooling: Or maybe not....lol Actually I hope not - not that i would be delighted to see the 777 released, but the CTP is one of the biggest Vatsim-Events - for everybody to enjoy it it depends on good ATC (no problem, we have them) and good pilots- questionable - many pilots, including me, will have to get used to the 777 - the CTP is not a good place for experiments..... So is this, but I had to apply numerous corrections to get the actual photo the camera took to look more normal because my white balance was off. Just because a camera takes it doesn't mean it's what it should look like in the real world. Even so, it's still not perfect. The ramp color is still a little more saturated than it should be, but I compromised to get the red on the tail to "pop." Here's an example of how white balance being "off" can affect an image: ...and I think the word the guys were looking for earlier was "oversaturated." Overexposed would be loss of highlight definition, which isn't really the case in that picture. Absolutely, and dont forget that every picture/color will look different on every single computer screen, depending on brand, configuration, etc etc.... My monitor (made by the same company as my laptop) is warmer than my laptop's built in screen. Kyle Rodgers
March 14, 201313 yr Commercial Member Is that John Travolta's 707 parked there? It is! I was leaving the ramp at DVT when I worked there at an FBO and heard a lot of noise as I was driving home and saw it. Ran home, grabbed my camera, and ran back up to the airport to grab a few pictures. Luckily my commute was only 2 or so miles! Kyle Rodgers
March 14, 201313 yr Thought as much. Thanks for that update and the image, superbly captured. Is that his VIP limo next to it too. Just out of speculative interest, was this shot taken when he was on his way to link up with Qantas, or is that parked at his home station? Rick Almeida

Just out of speculative interest, was this shot taken when he was on his way to link up with Qantas, or is that parked at his home station? You're welcome, and thanks! The Mustang that is driving up in the picture is actually one of the other rampies who was taking advantage of the situation. He rolled up, parked, got out, snapped a few pics, and then drove off. I wish I had thought to do the same (DVT allows personal vehicles on the ramps to allow you to get around their insane amounts of hangars if you've attended training - required for me as I drove a fuel truck all day). As for the reason for the visit, I couldn't tell ya. DVT is one of the several relievers for PHX. I don't have the original file to get the shot date at the moment, but it was around this time of year in 2009. Honeywell is less than a quarter mile from DVT, though, so it could've been avionics/maintenance-related. Kyle Rodgers
March 14, 201313 yr Thanks for all that info, Kyle. All I can say is, Lucky you and the Mustang guy!! Rick Almeida
March 14, 201313 yr you can clearly see that at least on the standby instruments is still room for graphical improvement. It looks like the artificial horizon almost touches the "base of the metal case" of the display in the video and also the altimeter and speed roses seem to be bigger, less centered and sitting on the "base of the instrument". They do look somewhat smaller on the PMDG 777. Notice how on the real-life 777, the 200 knot should be touching that little baby blue square while there's a quite large gap on PMDGs 777. That little baby blue square is also not visible on PMDGs 777. I would also like to point out that the gap between the Nav display and heading ref switch looks a little to wide. Here's a 77W Lionel

March 14, 201313 yr Commercial Member Once can hope... As a VATSIM controller, part of me hopes not. A huge event isn't a good time to be learning a new aircraft. Heck, your first time in the aircraft generally isn't a good time to bring it out on a network, but some people can get away with it if they're familiar with Boeing in general. Then again, in my case, IAD was passed up (as usual) so I won't be seeing much anyway. Kyle Rodgers
March 14, 201313 yr Did you happen to notice the elevation on the FlapSecondaryTest.jpg 5:80 May 8+5=13...... 5 is the fifth month may 5 2013 just observing with a little fun it looks like that elevation and baro is similar to CYYZ. It is also near the elevation for Paine Field, KPAE, where the 777 is manufactured. Methinks this lead may be drying up. The flaps, however moved from 0 to 5! Theories anyone? March 14, 201313 yr Why on earth does the texture look so different? My guess: The one on top is for 777-200, 200ER and 300 while the one on bottom is for 777-200LR, 777F and 777-300ER Each turbulence we pass on, move on to the next waypoint and have a successful landing in life.

Kyle, I suspect most simmers who would fly the CTP would fly on a 767, a 747 or a 777 anyway, so I would not be too alarmed. It would probably means quite a bit less MD-11s though, and I love meeting those on the network... --Peter Fabian

March 15, 201313 yr "Main Deck A/C" - Implies to me that this is taken from Freighter - as a pax version wouldnt refer to a main deck. Chris.
