One question about a topic that has been around for a number of years now...

Seeing as though you have decided not to do a 2D panel, is the viewpoint shifting bug occurring in your tests? It has to be the worst thing in FSX for me, way worse than performance issues etc...

I believe Ryan has answered this question already. He said they tried to work around it during the NGX development, but they found no solution to this problem. I'll see if I can find his post.

EDIT: Here is his post:

No solution to this unfortunately - we tried during NGX development, but this effect is hardcoded into the sim by MS.

Maybe Peter Dowson, the wizard of Flight Simulator, could try to work on it...  :Praying:

Thanks for clearing that up.

Lets hope someone, someday will find a fix for it, as it is such an annoying bug...

Why is it not secure. Take a look at the ELEC panel on the overhead of this Delta 777-200LR ;)

Thanks for your question and your photo, Harm.

Minutiae = something which might not easily be spotted.

By "secure", I mean that the Electrical sub-panel isn't fastened to the overhead panel properly. Only one of the six dzus fasteners is properly aligned (something a Boeing maintenance engineer might notice). Looking at your photo, all the slots of the fasteners are aligned North/South. There are lots more panels in the PMDG screenshots in a similar condition, but this is just an example.

Your photo also highlights two differences which can be identified by anyone with a good eye. Sorry, no prizes for guessing

You mean the two smaller screws that are missing?

Anyway where are those IFE/UTILITY switches on the 200ER?

Aren't there any?

Ryan, any word on the MD-11 style real time refueling option? It would be nice to have that run in the background while pre-flighting and selecting flight plans.

Was told it's unlikely, sorry. Requires a fairly major redesign of the way the fuel loading thing in the CDU works internally with the sim.

So I just came to think of Polar flying. I remember that Ryan talked about how they didn't implement that kind of navigation into the systems (or what was it actually?) in the NGX since there's only a very few NG's flying in that region anyway. And of course I had to try it out my self flying over the true north pole and the NGX can't figure out anything from that point  :P

Anyway, Air Canada flies it's LR over the north pole from Toronto to Hong Kong (as the Just Planes DVD show). Not directly over it all of the time, but sometimes they will. How will the PMDG 777-200LR handle that kind of operations?

The 777 handles both mag and true headings by default, shouldn't be any issues with polar flying.

That has nothing to do with 2D panels being preset or not - any addon has it, it's hard coded in the sim.

No, I didn't mean the missing roundhead philips lightplate screw (s?). That's another difference.

Keep looking ^_^  (I'm not referring to the additional switches).

Wonder if many will ask where the switch is for that  :P (Hint: below the ND on the Captains side)

No worries, thanks for the response.

Oh yeah, was going to ask how will we control if the doors are auto or manual? The doors page in the CDU?

I know there is a subset of users out there who cherish the opportunity to demonstrate to everyone in the forum how much they know about the minutiae of any particular airplane

Probably similar to the MD-11 unless the cabin crew here is completely automated.

What was it like in the MD-11? Don't own it.

I never owned it but from what I heard you arm the doors via the doors page on the MCDU, that is to get rid of the "door open" message on the ECAM. It would be neat to see the doors arm one by one as no cabin crew will coordinate the action down to the millisecond.
