The rogue server must be vanquished!! One for all and All for one!

I can see it now....hundreds of angry torch carrying PMDG-ers congregating outside the server's offices.

Gents-

 

A quick update for now...  This one errant server has absorbed my entire day- which puts me in the kind of mood that is largely unfair to everyone around me.  :angry:

 

The machine itself wound up being replaced overnight, but after about 9hrs of operation the problem returned.

 

We still think it is a connection/router/switch issue inside the data center where this machine lives- which means (in theory at least) that there are a gaggle of other machines experiencing the same problems- and that should lead to a quick fix.

 

But you know how theories go...

 

We are in the process of shuffling some things around so that we can create a few VMs to move critical services off this particular machine since it appears to be in a problematic location.  This could take some time- and it necessitated just shutting down eCommerce until they get things sorted out.

 

In positive news- we have a big installation of new machines happening over the next week that will allow us to run fully redundant and load balanced services for the first time in PMDG's history.  If I am to believe the techs, this will make this type of headache a thing of the past...  Too bad we didn't have this done last week.

How abut a 777 update while you're here? :Praying:

Well we did get a roundabout update:  if they are replacing/upgrading server farms next week, there'll certainly be no T7 release over that period.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop sir. We need them servers in tip top shape after the credit card numbers start to fly!

As of now, all services are running normally- but I am going to leave this thread active because we want to give this new machine a chance to run for 24hrs before declaring victory over the ghost in the machine...

 

Okay- so...  Hidden 777 update for those of you reading this thread.  Now- as you know we do not discuss release dates- but I will give you a non-release date:  This weekend. 

 

(Oh let the complaining begin.... I know how some people hate it when I reply with something snarky.  LOL)

 

On a SERIOUS NOTE:  Thank you for your patience the past few days.  We had planned to try your patience NEXT week with some minor outages while we bring new resources online- but this was unplanned...  At least it fell apart before the 777 release....

I can't see how he's said he's going to give us an update - all he's told us is that a non-release date would be this weekend...in other words, the 777 won't be released this weekend.
