Majestic Dash 8 Q400 - Release Thread

If you're annoyed at the default VC placement (right seat instead of left seat), here's how to fix it:

1: Make a backup of the aircraft.cfg file in the mjc8q400 folder.

2: Open the aircraft.cfg (right click+ open with notepad)

3: Scroll down to the [CameraDefinition.6] entry.

4: Find  the line called Hotkeyselect=1

5: Comment it out by writing "//" in front so that it looks like this:

//Hotkeyselect=1

6: Save the file.

Hey presto. If you press F9 you'll now be in the left seat by default. All the other views work like before.

My default vc view is / was already the left seat.

Dont know about everybody else......

Anyone found a turnaround for the annoying 'spot' camera issue?

I have a feeling this might be something to do with the external FDE ' syncing' with  FSX. Read the chapter on the config panel for further info.

Im just guessing though at this point........

First flight/ pattern work complete.

Sound = Best out there.

FDE = Out of this world smooth and nice.

FPS = How is the world is this plane pegging out at 30FPS in Orbx land!!!!

Visuals = Step up from current best. This is a new benchmark on addons.

Config Manager = Little confusing but will have to play with it more. I only have a Saitek x52 so I am limited.

Throttle = Anyone know how to get full throttle without blowing engines on takeoff!?! Lol. Took me 3 tries.

Price = 100% worth every penny.

Sent from my Apple communications device.

For the take off thing, you should only move it to the "rating" part, do not "firewall" the throttle.

I'll give it a go, thanks a lot for the HU!

EDIT: Didn't work, still the same :(

2. I can't get my joystick (Saitek Aviator) recognízed in the Control Panel. Just the numbers 32768 (elevator) and 0 (power lever position) are flashing, but don't change at all. Plane is active in FSX, Joystick active in W7 and recognized and working in FSX. What am I doing wrong ?

Yes, I have the same problem with Win 8 and my Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2.

And is it normal that when in external view the normal spot mode behaves like the locked spot mode? I hope not as I prefer the fluid transitions of the normal spot mode.

Otherwise it's an excellent addon! Well done  :smile2:

Alright, how the hell do you get it cold and dark?

Is my face red, i should know better than jumping to conclusions without evidence.

After further testing restarting the sim each time and sitting at the same location Working Memory usage statistics are:

Default Trike: 1,440

QW Avro 100: 2,145  :O

MJ Dash 8: 1,665

Can't test the NGX at the moment, it's locked out

All tested fair weather default theme at EGCC x-treme gate 43 ASX installed.

Oddly, I have the opposite problem.  My engines are quite soft, in fact to a point that I am not always sure they are making any noise.

I think that part of the configuration manager is for sounds in the Pro version.  We will supposedly be able to select which speakers play which sounds when that version comes along.

Really? I only have options for sensitivity and to use mouse + tiller or spoilers.

Thank you. I'll check that out.  I just grabbed the handle in the VC and used it.  That's a little clumsy though.

Folks,

The 2nd option (Ailerons+Mouse) under the "Steering Control Mode" will link the nose wheel steering to your yoke or joystick.  This way the NWS is centered before takeoff, once over 40 knots the tiller does not have any input effect and rudder input is now required to maintain the centerline during takeoff.

Actually the same is happening with VS. when selecting VS, selecting a vertical speed is always resetting to 0 instantly :(

Please send us an email at [email protected] explaining your problem in detail and what type of operating system and hardware youj are using.  Do you have any type of AP hardware i.e goflight etc.  if not properly configured, these can cause an interference.
