April 21, 201313 yr I'm curious what the recommended method for cold and dark is? 5. No way to get it Cold & Dark easily; Now I don't speak a lick of German, but just copying what this guy does in the first bit of the video helped me out with that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtKSEt4M6gA Elijah HoytCFI, CFII, CMEL, CSEL, CSES, IFR
April 21, 201313 yr A great release, no doubt! The only thing I am seeing that is bugging me is the the fact that there doesn't seem to be a way to add shine to the textures, so everything is somewhat matte inolor. Messing with the alpha channels doesn't seem to have any effect at all. :( Reminds me of the Airsimmer Airbus textures. No shine effects outside of specular highlights, no shiney glass, no working alpha channels (unless I'm doing something wrong). If anybody has a solution to this than I'm all ears. I had a list of repaints I was going to work on, but I may pass on those if I can't get the aircraft to look realistic. April 21, 201313 yr Agree, this is a fantastic aircraft so far. I am also noting the FMS issues Ryan pointed out. I flew a departure out of KFLL 09L and the aircraft did not follow the points as depicted/loaded in the FMS with LNAV & autopilot engaged. It instead made a sweeping turn to the left on course, ignoring two of the loaded points. Also, having the severe lack of elevator in the flare, and auto pilot not trimming the aircraft well issues too. The only other major issue I've noticed is in the icing modeling. Flying in central/southern FL this afternoon. In rain with SAT of +28c and ice detected/depicted?!?!? This is not realistic. A good general rule for airframe icing is +8-10c degrees and below with visible moisture. This applies until about -45c to -50c where icing becomes unlikely, as its too cold. There are a few different rules for induction icing however. Might be worth looking into... I'll pass this on to the developers. This was something I worked on with the developers, and experienced as well during beta testing, however I thought it had been fixed (from what I experienced on my test flights) during the release candidates. I experienced icing where us real pilots would expect it too, during that later period of testing. I'll let you know! April 21, 201313 yr I am looking into painting some base layers to add reflection as I have done with the ngx all hand painted the only way I know of bit of layer work but the final result to me looks pretty sweet. Rich Sennett
April 21, 201313 yr Nathan, Thx for ur answer. Maybe u are right that this bird is not easy to land, but movies i have seen shows perfectly smooth landings ( flightlevel350.com ). I have tried all flap settings, also i am keeping speed close to table ones. I read in another post that there may not be enough elevator for the flare during landing, which would explain why you are having difficulties landing. I have also experienced the lack of elevator to flare when I was on final going into Bodo (EGBO). Hopefully, if this isn't realistic, it will be fixed. April 21, 201313 yr Unfortunately there seems to be a major issue with the elevator / trim / autopilot interaction. I've just finished a flight with a nose dive into the ground. The autopilot doesn't seem to trim out the elevator to a neutral position in any stage of flight (you can see this on the PFCS indicator) - meaning that when you disconnect the A/P the aircraft you get is badly out of trim - very frustrating results if you're at 200'. Is it using the default FSX autopilot by any chance? My last two flights I've had a similar issue with the aircraft being badly out of trim when disengaging the A/P. In both cases, even with the control column pushed all the way forward, it was very hard to get the nose to come down enough to land...when I finally did get the nose down the aircraft was in no condition to land in terms of pitch/speed/altitude. Can anyone shed light on what the trim range should be when landing? One of these was a flaps 15 landing, the other flaps 35. Also (maybe related?), I haven't been able to calibrate my controller using the control panel. The input section does not change based on controller position. April 21, 201313 yr Anyone know why JF's site displays 800 Reward Points available yet only 245 points given when paying for it? has anybody else experienced this? Rick Almeida
April 21, 201313 yr One thing I have noticed so far with this plane is that It does not play well with any form of outside DHM ( ecza, opus) I had to turn that part of ezca off and then the bouncing stopped. Also I bet some of the autopilot issues are caused by not running the controls directly through fsx Mike Avallone [email protected],Corsair H115i cooler,ASUS 2080TI,GSkill 32GB pc3600 ram, 2 WD black NVME ssd drives, ASUS maximus hero MB
April 21, 201313 yr Congratulations on your release Majestic! I'm not quite sold unfortunately - but looks fantastic for those people that love the Q400 (-: - Luke Pabari
April 21, 201313 yr Interesting Mike did have opus running and the plane was bouncing up and down after changing to another livery - settled down but never saw that before lol Rich Sennett
April 21, 201313 yr A large part of my enjoyment in FSX is from OPUS and from EZCA, and, had I known, I would not have bought the DASH. On occasion I have gotten huge 700 foot flips, bounces, and huge somersaults....whats this ???? and EZCA does not work at all anyway with it. I have managed to find a compromise and get some flight out of it but not perfect yet. There are no refunds for downloaded products (info from terms and conditions page)
April 21, 201313 yr but everything to do with the Q400 is completely muted. I had this issue with the NGX, although not muted, just some sounds were very quiet or changed on angle. My issue went away by choosing stereo sound speakers in windows instead of going with the full 5.1 or 7.1 Perhaps try that. Disregard. I see that someone has mentioned this previously and I missed it. Edited April 21, 201313 yr by HighTowers CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,
April 21, 201313 yr "There are no refunds for downloaded products (info from terms and conditions page)" Well thats nice without opus and finding out this bird cant be painted with dynamic shine is not good, think I should have waited before purchase its very nice and different but these are deal breakers for me. There are no refunds for downloaded products (info from terms and conditions page) I noticed that my plane was bouncing a bit, I turned off the DHM and it went away. What I did notice is that the plane has it's OWN DHM on landing built in. I still use EZCA I just turn off the DHM part of it. I bet this plane does not play well with outside DHM because of it's outside of FSX FDE engine. Either way it is worth it to have much better FDE.. This plane is excellent. Other then that the one thing that I wish this plane had is the V/S banana ( not sure what it's called but the green bowed line on the MFD that shows where you will reach your desired alt) Mike Avallone [email protected],Corsair H115i cooler,ASUS 2080TI,GSkill 32GB pc3600 ram, 2 WD black NVME ssd drives, ASUS maximus hero MB
