April 22, 201313 yr Hi If i should by one of theese right now, which one would you recommend, and why? Just to be clear, i talk about PMDG or Majestic...
April 22, 201313 yr The Q400 is a larger airplane and also a more complex one than the J41, for me it is like comparing a small jet with a Boeing, the realism on the J41 is extreme, really love that plane and you will not regreat, you will love to flight it and go through every check list. My advice go for J41!!!
April 22, 201313 yr I have both and while the J41 is nice, the Q400 is more preferable. The systems are nice and the FDE and textures are lovely. If I had to choose only 1, it would be the Majestic but if you can, get both, you won't regret either. April 22, 201313 yr I just departed Fairbanks Alaska in The JS41 and cruising at 18000ft. She has a fully working anti ice system and ice builds up over the windscreen and wings, very immersible. To me she feels more realistic then even the 737ng, at times hard to believe you not flying for real. She has a very simple FMC that uses navigraph data. The auto pilot needs babying and she gets a bit slippery on approach but a wonderful plane to hand fly. go for it and step up to the Q400 after a thousand hour or so :-) forgot to mention push her to hard and the engines will explode...Im not kidding.. April 22, 201313 yr J41....q400 it feels way too automated, still a great plane tho. My Youtube Channel (P3D/FSX/X-Plane Videos and much more!)
April 22, 201313 yr Im serious thinking about getting both :-) Both. There different animals all together.
April 22, 201313 yr Both. The J41 can be a bugger to get started, and if you don't know what you're doing or forget, you can actually destroy the engine which is pretty cool! Loving the MJQ400 though, probably flown it more over the past 48 hours than I have the J41 this year...
April 22, 201313 yr Author Haha i love this hobby! J41 is on the way, Q400 is next in line...Thanks guys!
April 22, 201313 yr forgot to mention push her to hard and the engines will explode...Im not kidding.. No need to push, don't start them properly and they explode Chris Magnus HR Manager Air Jamaica Virtual Airlines and Cargo (http://www.airjamaicavirtualairlinesandcargo.org)
April 22, 201313 yr I have them both, and both are done to excellent standards and neither will disappoint you. My vote goes for the Q400 however. Partly because I really like the Dash 8's, but also because I think it is just a little bit better then the J41.
April 22, 201313 yr Stick to one plane at a time. Fly it for 1 year or longer then choose your next toy. I have too many planes and havent been able to settle with one. J41 or Q400 is up to you what route you'll be doing, range, etc. I havent flown the Q400 much but i did work with an airline that flies them. Dispatched them and worked the ramp previous to dispatch. So its up to you. For me, it will be the Q400 because i know how far it can go, fuel needed, payload, etc. Good luck i7 4790K 4.8GHz, 16GB DDR3 1866MHz, EVGA RTX 2080 XC. 1TB M.2 SSD, 4TB HDD, 4K display. April 22, 201313 yr Im serious thinking about getting both :-) If you like turboprops, you need to get them both. They are completely different in that the J41 has direct drive props, which make it a lot easier to burn up its engines. They are both very good simulations, but the Q400 is a marvel. I absolutely love it more than any other aircraft sim that I have flown. The Q400 is actually very easy to fly. I think the J41 is really a little harder to fly. Of course, with any aircraft that don't have an autothrottle, you have to watch you speed like a hawk. Stall or overspeed will sneak up on you very quietly. If you have to just buy one, I would get the Q400, but you really need them both. She has a fully working anti ice system and ice builds up over the windscreen and wings, very immersible. Did PMDG ever fix the bug in the icing effects? Robert Yunque
