FSCaptain nirvana

Yes! I've got it at last. Did a jump from FSPassengers to FSCaptain in a day, and to be honest I don't miss airline management stuff at all. Most of all I can fly any airplane without thinking "daaamn, I must earn 60 million bloody dollars to fly this plane".

First of all, I really like the whole FCDU concept of communicating with crew and dispatch. The thing that got me excited is that FO and FA have many things to say and announce. The number of FA announcements is way bigger than in FSP. Some announcements have two versions (slightly different sentences), brilliant. I also LOVE that I can announce various stuff to crew and pax: takeoff, takeoff delay, landing  soon, landing, approach delays, hold by atc, turbulences, welcome stuff, etc etc. I'm a huge realistic ambience lover, so these details are a fetish for me. B)

At the end of the flight you will get detailed summary of your flight perfomance, and final computed score. The flight evaluation method is better than in FSP, you can even get additional points for smooth landing, WITH APPLAUSE moments after touchdown (flying in Europe is fun).

You can also tweak the percentage of various failure types, which is cool.

I like FSCaptain so much that I overhaul 90% of sounds provided with it, made it much more realistic, I will upload it here if I have a permission by the developers.

Oh yes, bye bye FSP, you will not miss me.

How well does FS2Crew and this addon play together?

Not sure, didn't tried the combination. You can kill the volume of FO/FA in the cfg file, but still you can announce landings and stuff to keep your pax happy.

By the way, does anyone knows how to make FO to do V1,V2, VR, flaps/gear up calls?

I also wonder how it will work with FS2Crew: it would be a bit odd having to do certain things twice: once to please FS2Crew and once to please FSCaptain... There seems to be an overlap, specially in the 'ambient' side.

It works well actually.  Setting it up with FS2Crew in the first instance is a little idiosyncratic, they both act as panels and require separate and different entries in panel.cfg.

The panel installer in FSCaptain has never managed to work once in anything other than the default aircraft.  In this case you add the panel manually, it's not hard really.

There are some very minor duplication's between the two pieces of software, but FSCaptain can be configured to switch off the co-pilot or cabin crew.  To be fair, they really don't clash and (so long as the different voices don't bother you) they are more complementary than exclusive.

I am a little concerned at the minute that the development and support may be going down the same path as FSPassengers.  The last development was back in December and Dutch (the developer) is not on the forums anywhere near as much as in the past.

Even with the above in mind it's a nice replacement for FSPassengers and worth the fairly small cash outlay.

I would Love to try your new sounds. And Yes, it does work with FS2Crew.

you can even get additional points for smooth landing

I am looking closely at this as a replacement for FSP.

On a sidenote, this aspect is unrealistic as pilots are trained to plant the jet on the runway, when done properly there is no doubt that you have made contact with the runway.

How do you get it to work with fscrew? I thought there a window limitation?

Nope

Just turn off the fscaptain FO and turn off either the fs2crew flight attendants or the fscaptain ones if you want.

They work fine together.

I like the sound of this addon, but ;

........ WITH APPLAUSE moments after touchdown.

.....is it possible to turn the above feature off? ....... as personally, I can't think of anything worse after a flight in terms of realism.

In 40 years of flying I've never once heard the passengers applaud after a landing.

All the rest sounds good - gonna investigate this product more.

I don't think FSCaptain applauses after landing.

Wow...you need to get around more. In my 40 years of flying, it's happened every flight in and to Indonesia (lived 3 years there), trips to anywhere in Latin America, and in a few countries in southeast Asia, such as Malaysia. True, Americans (and perhaps Brits) don't applaud, but a lot of other folks seem inclined to!

Actually, I did hear Americans applaud upon a successful A320 autoland onto ILS 4R at KBOS during fog and rain at night.

and after a smooth landing

Ah, ok, well, in that case most of us won't be bothered by applauding passengers... :P
