The Maddog awakes

Featured Replies

Whoever was in charge needs some monies, so they decided to make a comeback.

On a serious note, YES! The VC needs some work done to it. Still some bugs that need to be fixed, glad to see that they're back. MD80 is my favorite airliner!

For me - this is third-best news..... The first is, for those avid DX10-ers  - Steve Parsons DX10 Scenery Fixer is not far off a release date! The second best news is that the LH Maddog works in DX10, and yours truly has been flying her since last August!

... and the third best news is - I am downloading the Maddog's SP2 even as I type!

@ Cortez  What bugs are you talking about, Luis?

I must be doing something wrong, perhaps, as I've been flying the 2010 'Dog since it was released, and I have not come across anything that one might call a "bug", yet you imply there are "bugs" plural, that need to be fixed.

Perhaps "bugs" was the wrong term. I myself and others have reported sound issues, textures going completely blurry when changing views or minimizing, little stuff. Don't get me wrong, still a great plane to fly and I love it!

Without going off-topic any deeper in this thread, Luis - sound issues/complaints (and you are right - there are lots of them) are the result of a bad default flight setup, and textures blurring when switching is an FSX or your pc - maybe graphics issue - the Maddog doesn't do this, otherwise everyone would have this problem.

I know - and sympathize - their forum is the worst ever from dev support, but there are lots of very knowledgeable and supportive members who will help.

Leonardo Maddog MD 82 is a Godsent... he rode a comet, his trail was long...

Great aircraft!  But the big caveat is that it is extremely taxing on the FPS!  There is no harder airplane to fly in ORBX PNW.  Hope they can fix the FPS issue.  Otherwise, this is an exceptionally realistic feeling aircraft despite the dated graphics.  The only addon that has a true bonafide pre-flight set up including fuel requirements and visible load sheets and route planning.

Certainly last thing I expected to see in the forum today!  Great news.

Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM

I replaced mine with the coolsky dc9. I think if the level of detail is adhered to as the systems itnwill be a no brainer. I will wait in line for this redo. I loved the system aspect of the craft but without a proper vc it is just plain hard to enjoy. Cpt out.

Just wondering if the so called modification includes the FS9 version as well since the product comes with both platforms.

Well I'm pretty sure the installer asks which version of FS you have when installing SP2.

Great news. A great aircraft from a skilled team of developers, I am very excited about this, if Davide upgrades the cockpit with a modern facelift, we'll see some more Maddog aircraft in the IVAO and Vatsim skyes, I'll sure be one of them! Keep it up Davide, and welcome back

Paul,

Just curious, how did you get the LH Maddog to work in DX10?

I've been using DX10 for about a month, and have been using the Avsim DX10 tutorial as my guide. I applied Steve's latest version of his shader mod tool (ver 3.2), and all of the other fixes included in the tutorial - lights fix, rain fix, etc. I implemented all of the suggested changes in the FSX.CFG and Inspector profile.

In general, I am very pleased with the results. DX10 works great with the PMDG NGX, Aerosoft AXE, and FSLabs Concorde. But with the Maddog, all of the panel and exterior aircraft textures are white. I love the Maddog, but have to switch back to DX9 to run it. Have I missed something in regards to DX10 mods specific to making the Maddog work in 10?

It'll work with 3.2.1, Jim, plus a couple of dev files which need to be added.

That being said - the DX10 Scenery Fixer app which Steve will be releasing (shortly, I hope!) has incorporated a ToolBox and a Controller which has a 5-position slider to bias the code in favor of the non-compliant aircraft or the non-compliant scenery.

The "normal" center position will work fine for most scenery's and aircraft, but with the Maddog, it needs pushing to the right. The aircraft is then specifically "Tagged" as needing this bias. Once this is done, one simply returns the slider to normal, and then flies. The Maddog is then ok at dawn, day, dusk and night. The only issue i have (at this moment, not having had the chance to test her with SP2) is that, whereas the VC is quite perfect - the overhead panel is darker than I would want, and I don't have the smarts to fix it. I did play with the SweetFX brightness/gamma/contrast/vibrance settings a few weeks back and got it pretty close, but that, of course, makes the day outside much brighter than is perhaps, 'real'.

All the Best,

Thanks for the info Paul. Excellent news about Steve's new app! Very much looking forward to its release.

Paul, regarding your comment:

Could you please shed some light on which dev-files are needed to fix the Maddog and DX10, or do I have to wait for the Scenery Fixing Tool?:) (Really looking forward to the Scenery Fixer tool BTW!)

Best regards,
