What about AA? Has this or will this update manage to fix the lack of AA in DX10 mode?

Currently this is really the only thing holding me back.

Sent from my Apple communications device.

AA works fine in DX10 William.

Use Nvida inspector to force AA at the driver level infact its more efficient then Fsx's Aa

Inspector cannot force AA, David - that's one of the issues with DX10: it can add SGSS, and will alter MS very very slightly.

here's a pic showing no AA, either in Inspector or set in FSX:

here's a pic showing Inspector-controlled (8xQ) AA with none set in FSX:

here's a pic showing AA set in FSX only:

here's a pic showing the recommended Inspector setup with the recommended AA configuration set in FSX:

The pics aren't very good, I'm afraid, as they start out as 15MB files, and jpg'ing and reducing them messes up the quality pretty badly.. of course my eyes don't help either.

Steve has a good blog on AA here, if you're interested. Charles (cvearl) has some good ATI/AMD info on our site here, as well.

All the Best,

Hi Paul...

When you mentioned the recommended settings, did you mean those from the DX10 guide? And if so which settings?

Thanks!

You're welcome, Cory!

.. for Nvidia - bottom of page 2, with a capture on p3:

4xS and 4SGSS, tied with the [Graphics] entry on page 4, is pretty easy on most machines... and those with the 4.8 - 5.0 gig pc's can go higher, and the low and mid-range pc's can probably use 2 - 4 x and see how it goes.

The AF settings are necessary, otherwise taxy lines go fuzzy within 20 feet: the two Vertical Sync settings are now very standard, DX9 and 10, with 30 (or 31) set in FSX. The newest addition is the Bioshok setting (at the top), which was found to make the spinning aircraft look pretty again!.

Thanks for your assistance... again! I have to make sure I keep checking the how to doc.

Can't wait for the "fixes" to come out. Looking forward to some night flying again.

Will the DX10SceneryFixer program feature a backup + uninstall to revert back to DX9 in case of compatibility problems with external programs used with FSX? For example, I use external warping software for projection that may not work with this 100% without an update. I would like too try the DX10 Fix, but would also like a quick way back to DX9 if the DX10SceneryFixer doesn't work with the warping software.

The Fixer includes an uninstall, Gary, and a description and tools to do just that, manually, plus the pinned "How-To" guide at the top of this site describes the normal method of backing up your user files before you begin the installation (of any new software). EZCA is 1000 times more complex than this application.

Paul helped me out - he is the best :drinks: dx10 made sim look super nice and just took a bit of time to get AA working properly.

For Me FT kbos will not work in dx10 otherwise I would have been a dx10 convert to bad.

keep in mind I think most payware does not have virtual cockpit shadows which would be a huge reason to go to dx10- correct if I am wrong on the VC shadows in payware aircraft.

oh I have never ever had OOM problem guess I am lucky.

I know that all the carendo and alabeo planes have cockpit shadows along with the CS777 and the Aerosoft Airbus X which I just bought and like more than the NGX

Perfect, thanks Paul. Will have quick read through that guide as well.

Airbus X Extended has vc shadows? Weird I totally didn't notice this...

Is there a setting for me to ensure that I'm getting this?

Not checked it out yet but one things for sure you need to running dx10 for shadows to be there.

The current patch enhances any existing cockpit shadowing, while the DX10 Fixer application adds shadowing where none existed before.
