"DX10 Fixer application adds shadowing where none existed before"

Paul what do you mean by this not sure but doesn't the developer have to design aircraft with shadows to begin with ?

Here's a direct quote from a piece of one of Steve's recent "test this" emails... and it does work beautifully.

Here is a revised toolbox  with a new option to enable VC shadows for any FSX aircraft that don’t have them. (Not legacy aircraft though!) Its under the aircraft menu – you need to select the interior model.  E.g here is the A2A Piper Cub with VC shadows turned on.

I also posted these pics from that testing on the 15th of June.

I have no idea what all this means ?

It appears to me to mean that the upcoming utility will be able to add VC shadowing, in Dx10 obviously, to any FSX native addon aircraft, whether its author has included this feature or not.

Regards,

Nick.

Rich, by native, I think Nick meant "built for FSX". It can be payware as long as it's not a port-over from FS9 or earlier.

KInd regards

This probably is a dumb question but does legacy aircraft mean ones not originally designed for FSX, but for previous FS versions?

Yup - you got it! All of the older fixes (from the patches) have been transferred into the DX10 Fixer app, along with some improvements to those existing fixes (like rain and snow), plus there are presentation changes (like the look and feel of the new app), and some, some "combined" changes, plus some additional features - like the VC cockpit shadowing for the FSX native-coded aircraft, both default and addon.

Is there an approximate expected release time for this Fixer app?

America and England - two nations separated by a common language. :He He:

The ivao MTL textures bare white with DX10 update. Is this fixed with the new DX10 fixer?

Does anyone know if the new DX10 Fixer will do anything to address the FSX water settings to HIgh 2.X  and correct the land shimmering?

That would be a huge plus.  I've gotten it down to where the shimmering is a problem only at initial climb out and becomes less of an issue above 500-1000 feet or so.  I'll have to double-check and get the actual altitudes.

Steve's latest reply on status, it seems like it should be almost there!

Soonish…

The main coding work is complete, I have rewritten the GUI to be more user friendly and I am currently working on the manual.
