July 11, 201312 yr FTXG will have to be enabled using FTX Central, just as you would enable one of the FTX regions. It doesn't simply replace the default textures. This also means that for NOW you won't be able to use FTX regions together with FTXG. But Orbx is working on (finally) fixing it. This is not a problem for me because I don't use those regions anymore, but if you really LOVE one of those, you will have to decide if you want FTXG activated or that region. The fact that you have to enable FTXG using FTX Central is the provided landclass correction. Somehow you might be able to replace all default FSX textures with the FTXG ones, but you will lose the landclass corrections and it could well be various textures don't end up in the right location. I am sure that within time someone will figure this out. ^_^
July 11, 201312 yr They do their autogen in a more optimized manner than the default though - a lot of times it can end up as less draw calls even if it looks denser visually due to those optimizations. Very excited to see this product! Would be more excited to see yours! Zicheng Cai
July 11, 201312 yr What can I get rid of when I install ftx global? UTX FSGENESIS can someone advise as to what this will replace will free up some room on my SSD I hope. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART
July 11, 201312 yr It's predominately textures so it replaces GEX. No mesh so keep fsgenesis. People say it doesn't replace UTX but a lot of the FTX Global pics show pretty intricate road networks. If they're just road textures then slapping utx vector roads on top will look horrible right? The best part of UTX to me is accurate rivers and coastlines. I'll definitely use that. We'll have to see with the roads. Brent Baker

We'll have to see with the roads. I believe a lot of the FTX Global pics have been done with UTX active in the regions where its available. At this point I would consider FTX Global nothing more than a texture replacement package like GEX. UTX will absoloutely be required if you wish to see accurate coastlines, roads, rivers, lakes, railways and urban landclass. We will have to wait and see how the FTX landclass addon packages work but they certainly wont offer all the benefits that UTX does. July 11, 201312 yr I read some posts from people who are emptying their SSD's to prepare for FTXG or who at least seem to be a bit worried about hard disk space and if they should uninstall stuff. Afaik the FTXG download will be something like 4 to 5 Gb and the installed add-on will take up no more space then somewhere around 7 Gb. Seems some people expect FTXG to take up something 100 Gb but that won't be the case. As far as uninstalling add-on goes because they may become useless after getting FTXG: the ONLY addon that will be totally useless with FTXG is GEX. All the others (mesh, land class, airports, whatever, etc.) will work in one way or another with FTXG.
July 11, 201312 yr Any one knows if they have release any screenshot of the Caribbean , Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic , Cuba ? July 11, 201312 yr Experience X and FTX Global lights together should be awesome, they look very similar. Looking forward to you posting some pics in the SS forum to see if I need to make the jump. Thanks Rich! ^_^

July 11, 201312 yr My heart is aflutter. Will so look forward to some of you early buyers will post some screenshots of your own. I know this is personal, but the screenshots from orbx look so much better to me than photo-realistic scenery. Whether this is $100 or $150, to me it will be well worth the money. Happy Flying!
July 11, 201312 yr "Looking forward to you posting some pics in the SS forum to see if I need to make the jump" Skully no problem will do buddy. Rich Sennett
July 11, 201312 yr BTW FTXG will be 100 dollar indeed, but afaik that will be 100 AUD. So that's something like 91 USD. Or 70 euro.
July 11, 201312 yr Commercial Member OK guys some factoids ... - Price is AU99, which is USD90, €69 or £60 - the AUD has taken a beating recently, which is good for you guys I guess - Installer is download only, no DVD. Size = ~4.7GB. Size on your HD is about 9GB - We do a backup of everything, including Scenery\World\Texture and we'll have an uninstaller as well. To do comparison shots, simply swap the Scenery\World\Texture folder names around yourself. - We ship out of the box with a new "Hybrid Mode" for FTX Central - this allows you to install FTXG and keep it active in hybrid mode and fly between USA, Europe, Australia, NZ without ever touching FTX Central again. If you find any incompatibilities using this mode in our FTX regions simply select them in FTX Central for full-compat mode and fly within the region. So yes, you can install FTXG and never use FTX Central again if you wish. - This does not replace UTX, keep that installed FTXG will work with any LC product like SceneryTech, FranceVFR TrueLS, etc. - Our openLC folders are not bound to our FTX folders, allowing you to move them anywhere in your scenery library "pie" layer to combine with other LC products - Our openLC uses OSM data and a whole bunch of other data sources. It will not compete with UTX, it will just produce the best LC we can make. We likely won't cover the world with openLC by the end of this year, that will take us into 2014. - We are not in the mesh business except for the stuff we integrate into our FTX regions. Get FSGeneis or FSGlobalX etc - We should have this released before the end of July Cheers, John Venema
July 11, 201312 yr Now that it's clear that we'll need to keep UTX installed if we want accurate roads, rivers, lakes, coastlines, etc., I'm curious about the other types of terrain features that UTX provides such as the urban landclass and special landclass polygon areas like parks, cemeteries, ports, etc. UTX uses its own special textures for these areas (GEX replaces them if you have it installed). I wonder if FTX global will include replacement textures for these areas as well?
