July 24, 201312 yr It's going to make having a quality video card that much more important. The mainstream gaming market is almost all video card centered at this point with how they are designing games. This. FSX and P3D 1.4 are only using a fraction of the power available in modern PCs. By implementing DX11 and moving more work to the GPU, the sim will be able to take better advantage of modern PCs. Sure, the transitional period will be painful as far as old add-ons go, but it's going to be necessary if we don't want the flight sim genre to stagnate completely. -
July 24, 201312 yr Unless MS decides FS 11 is worth developing, Xplane is the future.P3D is snake oil. As soon as they have enough beta testing from people willing to pay them $10 a month to help out, they'll close off the access and launch their professional product at a professional price. They said at the outset it was not an entertainment product and I'm sure they meant it. That being said, we still don't know what the contract between MS and LM contains. There may be wording that reserves a limited version of the final P3D product to be marketed and supported by Microsoft as FS 11. That would be the best of all. July 24, 201312 yr I really hope there will be an updated FSX. Wishful thinking I know, but miracles can happen. Right now I'm really putting my faith into P3D bringing FSX into the modern era. I have X-Plane installed and have been back n forth on it all this time. But my heart and passion lies in FSX. Whenever I try X-Plane, I keep coming back to FSX. Something about X-Plane, I don't know but it looks bad to me, and thats just my opinion. I have invested a lot of time into it, but it just doesn't satisfy me as much as FSX. So here's looking on to P3D to see if they can continue in making FSX better. July 24, 201312 yr As soon as they have enough beta testing from people willing to pay them..... Sounds like what XP10 does. Is XP10 out of beta yet?
July 24, 201312 yr Sounds like what XP10 does. Is XP10 out of beta yet? Could be. But XPlane is aimed squarely at the entertainment market. P3D isn't. July 24, 201312 yr 2013. I tried to find the source for the 2015 date (it was a FaceBook post from one of the devs) ... think it said "sometime before 2015" ... but the post seems to have been deleted? I haven't seen any "official" planned release date for P3D V2.0, could you share the source of 2013 date?
July 25, 201312 yr Commercial Member I tried to find the source for the 2015 date (it was a FaceBook post from one of the devs) ... think it said "sometime before 2015" ... but the post seems to have been deleted? I haven't seen any "official" planned release date for P3D V2.0, could you share the source of 2013 date? With the number of times I've had to go get this link, I should probably bookmark it. http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?13740-FlightSim-Com-Interviews-Wesley-Bard-Of-Lockheed-Martin-About-Prepar3D/view/3 It's in the answer to the 4th question on the page. July 25, 201312 yr That will be when the news is Microsoft has stopped its support. FSX, currently still "on sale" from Microsoft, states that it is now an UNSUPPORTED Product.
July 25, 201312 yr they'll close off the access and launch their professional product at a professional price. They said at the outset it was not an entertainment product and I'm sure they meant it. till today i was thinking i was the only one that had the same idea about P3D.... Image removed as image is no longer available.
July 25, 201312 yr FSX, currently still "on sale" from Microsoft, states that it is now an UNSUPPORTED Product. I saw your post on the OP's link. It's not gonna help, Geoff. He doesn't know and "can't comment on the future of the series". FSX is obviously still supported, because when you install it the online/telephone activation works and so does the built-in weather engine (At least for now...). i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
July 25, 201312 yr No, "supported" means that when you talk or e-mail a human being that they are able to offer support. Under your thinking Win XP is still supported because you can download updates for it. FSX is officially not supported any longer.
July 25, 201312 yr No, "supported" means that when you talk or e-mail a human being that they are able to offer support. And you think that Microsoft support is any good? The ONLY good support that Microsoft supports is Games for Windows LIVE... I called them in a few times for help with GTA 4 multiplayer. The people there ACTUALLY SPEAK ENGLISH ( ) and they know what they're talking about. They're a team of about 11 people, the guy told me. Speaking of Games for Windows LIVE, how come (Think: FSX came out in the Windows Vista era, and the whole GFW thing was coming out) FSX didn't use GFWL for its multiplayer, and instead had to use the ###### Gamespy? i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
July 25, 201312 yr I didn't say whether the support was good or bad. Bottom line: FSX is no longer supported by MS, just as FS9 is no longer supported or Windows XP is no longer supported.
