Alas, disparaging competitors products is commonplace in the online economy, as is endorsing your own projects!

That is exactly why we ask commercial members to carry the COMMERCIAL GROUP identifier. It tends to keep everyone a little more honest, both member and commercial user. If we find folks that are hiding their commercial status and attempting to mislead community members here by disparaging competing products or by other means, they will be gone and not let back in.

Couldn't care less, guys. The term is "couldn't care less"

Actually, "I could care less" is fine.  Yiddish (or more accurately, Yinglish [Yiddish English]) usage.  The reversed (positive) form is ironic and underlines the meaning - "I could care less!" (usually accompanied by a big shrug or other such gesture).  Implication: "I could care less, perhaps if the world ended a second from now.  Otherwise, I could not care less."

For more on Yiddish and Yinglish style, The Joys of Yiddish, now sadly out of print, is highly recommended.  Track down a copy (make sure it's the original and not the heavily revised, overly PC "New Joys of Yiddish," which isn't really by Leo Rosten).  It'll make you much better at single combat here on the forums (yes, OK, "fora," but you know what I mean).

Congrats to JV for fine Yiddish style.

And now back to intrigue, conspiracy, Orbx-bashing and bashing the bashers, all that good stuff...

In 2,000 years, this thread will be considered The Bible of a new religion called "Efftee-Exgeeology", and people will recite this whole thread word for word in dome like buildings, with huge mural paintings of John Venema, and the lead singer of Supertramp on the roof.

C'mon, you know it's going to happen... a thread like this can't remain non-sacred for long!

I bet in 2000 years people still can't run FSX without stutters and OOMs. B)

Picked up a CRAY at a garage sale....FSX is still not stutter free.

Let's see - you've got a product that's popular, but more publicity is always good for sales.  But advertising can be very expensive.  So, you start a fight:  The Trolls versus the Nasty CEO.  Everyone loves a good fight!  People circle around and watch the ruckus, take sides, yell profanities, and enjoy their popcorn.

The product is the talk of the town.  Newbies, seeing all the commotion, check up on the product, wondering what all the fuss is about.  They go to the company's website, often buying the product out of curiosity.

Although many of the comments in this heated debate are extremely negative, the bottom line is that people ultimately buy a product based on its quality, not based on forum fights, insults and pettiness.  Even The Trolls, secretly, purchase the product.  Sales soar to new heights.

Brilliant!

Yiddish apart, in the English language, the phrase is Couldn't care less, and my OCD is being acutely exacerbated by the number of people writing "Could care less"! ........  I mean, it's logical, it's obvious;   I'm sorry, I just could not (couldn't) care less (about that).

In the English language, maybe.  But I was born and raised in New York.

Ya gotta problem wid' that?  B)

Ye Gods... Supertramp.......

That Autogen mystery has to do with something I've forgotten from a former life and career, having to do with the 3D object not getting assigned info in memory about its relationship to the mathematically-defined 3d surface. Happens in 3D game development all the time, and is a beastly bugger to resolve for all cases. And yes, if a pointer or summat goes skipped in RAM, zoom! Off into the ether, in some cases spinning.

There are some hilarious videos on YouTube that demonstrate this effect, for the game, "Oblivion" (what we all seek, eh? Clever marketing there in that title, eh?). Search for them, perhaps under the phrase, "game fails."

I'm not surprised to hear OP might be a jealous competitor. We here in the West haven't seen much of this phenomenon, but in China, where the Internet audience and digital marketing is hugely larger than it is here - fellows, hold your egos in check for a moment, and bear with me - companies have literally armies of hired bloggers who diss each others' warez online, in ferocious wars of political persuasion in Mandarin. Not just for software. ANYTHING online. It's become part of doing business. Trolling as commercial competition. Terrifying, yes?

I'm sure we'll catch up some day, so above all, keep your humor.

So :(....you mean that single black autogen house at 3,500 feet above Lansing, Michigan was NOT Dorthy and her little dog on their way to the land of (pun...pun-------------->) J.V.'s Oz?  Dang.....so how do you then explain the hand with the bracelet waving to me out from a window, and that little yipping bark....   Hmmm....ok then, not a FSXG (glad to read this) issue. I'll check out the Lansing, Mich area soon and see if Dorthy has moved on as you suggest she might in another flight session. :)))))

Last time I was in New York, people were definately speaking English! ......... (and Italian, and Spanish, and Armenian, and Yiddish and [fill in some blanks, help me out here!]

Yep.

I had an amusing moment on my old PC with my first ORBX product (PNW .005), running on a Core2Duo with 4GB RAM.

There I was on Vashon Island, had just taken off, and a whole row of houses were floating gently next to me as I passed by.

One of the airport add-ons in the area has the option of turning on what I vaguely remember as the undersides of the fishing houses, or something like that?

So I turned that on, hoping to see "what was underneath" next time I started FSX.....only to find those floating houses all gone! What a mystery and disappointment.

It was so flummoxing I decided to get rid of the mystery by replacing the computer.

Everything makes more sense now. :)

Back to the thread, though: our theme should now be the obvious paranoid conspiracy theory that this whole "Greening of the Southwest" with angry decorated veterans, lawyer pilots and space aliens chiming in and getting their undies in a twist is actually a spectacularly coordinated and carefully managed online publicity campaign being run by all the online FSX forum admins along with ORBX and a secret cabal of allied 3rd-party developers intent on literally taking over the virtual world, if you know what I mean.

And even scarier: this is all just a dry run for DOING THE REAL THING! O_o!!!

And Hillary Clinton is behind it all, along with that Sheila that just got voted out of office in Oz.

So yes, women are going to rule the world soon, as a result.

Pretty clever, eh?!

p.s. pardon me as a non-Aussie if my use of Sheila is derogatory in ways I don't recognize. If so, any education (or rather, re-education, preferably in a camp? With cookies?) would be appreciated.

Ah, but New York isn't what it used to be.  Much too homogeneous.  All of my ancestors - the ones who could give a real barbed twist to "I could care less!" - are gone.  As a result, the appetizer counter at Zabar's just ain't the same.  It's becoming a sad gray world...

p.s. pardon me as a non-Aussie if my use of Sheila is derogatory in ways I don't recognize.
