Yes interesting it is. Very rarely do I read whole threads this long. Hope you made it down safe. Unfortunately I ended up hitting severe turbulence in Accufeel and went down and am now dead. So FTX-G is no longer a concern :cray:

I have left my "negative" comments on the Orbx site directly to JV. I also requested that he delete my account and know that I will NEVER purchase an ORBX product now or in the future. I believe customers have a "right" to be heard and the OP only expressed his views about a product. I am happy without FTXG or any of their products. My opinion and you have a right to yours..................

 

This started when a customer posted in the Orbx General Forum calling the program an "abomination" under the topic heading "It is terrible..." He was not requesting help, not providing constructive criticism. It was someone who clearly had an agenda. JV had every right to handle it the way he did. It is his store, if it was a brick and mortar, he would have been asked to leave. But then he probably would not have been so bold face to face. It so easy on the Interweb to be rude when hiding behind a forum post.

As Larry Adamson, stated so well....those that actually BOUGHT FSXG are not vocal, other than a few they love it strings. They are using, and enjoying what it brings...   Not too many  GENUINE..."I have bought this, and it does not enhance any part of the world that I fly in....or ANY of the world that I enjoy flying over".

 

My plan with a CPU upgrade, is to purchase lots of Orbx products. Especially Jackson Hole! This area is a place I'm highly familiar with, from my real flights, and I want it to be as authentic as possible.

What I have seen so far is very impressive.  I like to let things simmer before diving in to let things settle. I expect this to be a great product, I'll see soon enough for myself. Glad someone is supporting this old sim.

KJAC is one of my favorite ORBX airports. If you can afford to get KWYS too (West Yellowstone), by all means do so! I shuttle between the two spots to fly over Yellowstone, and enjoy flying around KJAC at dawn and dusk, or following various canyons in and out of there. Brings back many fond memories.

No argument that the customer was being an a$$hat - but that's the game you are in as a business owner, you simply ignore it, do what's required to deal with the problem and move on.

 

In the end we are buying both, but it's down to each individuals cost-benefit calculation to decide if you like where your money is going and what you get for it. For my part, I am well pleased overall with the products from ORBX, and generally the responses I get from customer support - perhaps Mr. Venema would be better served to not interact directly with the consumer and leave his comments to "press release" types of statements, but it is his company, and that's not the approach he is taking...

 

You know, I read thru all this and there is a lot of good points that I agree with.  I compliment JV a lot for his communication over there and the constant updates they provide.  NOBODY does that like they do.  If you have tech issues, they get you fixed right up.  And yet I do get a little, i don't know, disappointed I guess, when JV himself says he just does not care what we think of this style.  Maybe that is a me problem -- because damn I want to like the guy.  Most the time I do like him, in fact.  And in fact I have seen him admit to being a bit hotheaded (he even apologized once).  And yes folks, you CAN post some criticism as long as you do it positively -- I've done it -- so let's not go overboard on the censure thing (though I am sure some of that goes on).  He's human, and that is something I appreciate over there is that, hey we get to interract with a real person.  Sure I wish he would lose the arrogrant indifference act, but I'll live with it.  I just take the good with the not-so-good.  There is helluva lot more good coming out of that guy. 

 

But at the end of the day, you aren't paying $100 to go a freaking date with John Venema, you are buying his product.  And they make damn good products. 

 

So for those that seem to think it is somehow noble to just chuck all your FSX addons out of the window because JV was arrogrant or rude or told some troll to pack sand, well -- that's just pointless and juvenile. You paid for the product, and the product is good.  Now you think you need to punish yourself?  Because you cannot be so stupid as to think that you are really causing some kind of economic penalty to guy's company.

 

JV I love ya buddy.  Tell Mathijs we said hi.  Now get back to work.

Good thinking there. I share that line of thought. For instance, I'm a real fan of movies, and collect a lot of them. Still even have some old Laser discs, and even a few RCA selectavision (or skippo vision) because they are not released on DVDs. I don't always agree with certain actors, actresses, or some in the music industry, as to their political thoughts, etc. But what the ****! If they do a great job of acting, or singing, then I just let the rest go. They can have their own thoughts, and more power to them!
