Not impressed with Global

Featured Replies

Just look at how many people a have "stuck their foot in it" both personally and professionally these days...

True, but ultimately it's JV's company and he can run it however he wants. As has already been observed, the very vocal minority is just that, a very small sample of the total customer base. Trying to be nice to everyone all the time has, to some extent, been the ruin of western civilization.

Well at least the few people who have been trolling these threads with constant negativity are coming clean that they simply don't like Orbx or its owner.

Makes it easier to wade through the mess.

This is an addon for a computer game. Life is too short to care this much about whether JV is too arrogant. If the products are good, and they are good, then I'll buy them. This hobby is too niche to form alliances and care about forum banter.

A ton of FS developers aren't great at customer relations. And some don't communicate with the potential customer at all. Which isn't any better to me. I won't mention names but you guys know who I'm talking about.

"I DO have customers that (for what ever their reasons are) do NOT use what I will call "Shakespearean literature" but they are PAYING customers and that's why they are getting away with it....bread and butter."

OK maybe verbally abuse was a bit of hyperbole.

You tell me want you mean by this statement.

What I mean by that is that you will always have customers here and there who will not be happy with my products for what ever their reasons are, when they express their feelings to me they will from time to time use harsh words, from there, it is up to me to engage them in a way that will MAKE SURE I will not lose them...why.....because a good reputation is hard to built but a bad one will spread like wildfire.

Trying to be nice to everyone all the time has, to some extent, been the ruin of western civilization.

I think that is a strategy that I am going to adopt - NO more mister nice guy!!

Ha! Yeah, well I am certainly not arguing for "political correctness" at all, as I agree with you totally in that regard - but again, relationships with customers are a completely different "kettle of fish" - they are "buying" a whole other level of tolerance along with your product, and folks that don't get this can be successful for a while, maybe even a long while, but as was said earlier in this discussion, it's the thing you don't see that gets you in the end...

A big difference between being rude to genuinely disgruntled customers and being able to spot a troll monkey at a thousand paces. I'd say JV is doing pretty well these days actually.

If you are referring to the OP in this thread, he's a fraud and has been banned for violating our ToS' regarding multiple accounts.

I got that Tom, I was talking about myself tho with a past xmas sale issue (and I have never complained personally but seen how some who did complain got treated and was not impressed)

Indeed, but you only have to miss once, and irreparable damage can be done - safer to always be civil while representing your company, it makes you and your operation look good, and puts people on your side without having to make a case for it...

Yeah, I remember that.

I think JV is pretty civil really. He doesn't suffer fools, agreed, but then if he ever "goes off on one" these days, I seem to always understand why. As much as the customer is always right, as was said elsewhere, he/she doesn't have the right to be rude or make inflammatory comments. I haven't read JV being rude to anyone. Robust, certainly and maybe sometimes a little too spirited, but he is clearly a passionate man and we are all reaping the fruits of that determination.

I actually like and respect him for not considering that he is in a popularity contest with everyone. What you see is what you get and I always prefer that to the crocodile smiles we see so often in public life.

"I picked FS Global by "accident", I did not know about FSGenesis at the time. No problem with Win7 64, I have all regions available of FSGU mesh."

what do you know about FSGenesis? and given the choice would you still go for global ultimate?

I don't know much, sorry, I have seen a few threads here about it but since I am quite heavily invested in FS Global Ultimate I did not study the differences :)

Yeah, I remember that.

 Another tough, unpaid, day at the AVSIM office huh Tom.

On a side note... The OP may have been unimpressed with whatever he was unimpressed, that's his problem :P However, I really am impressed with how some of the participants have managed to turn this would-be disaster of a thread into an enjoyable and civilized discussion on customer care, regardless of differences. As I said, just a side note .

And a good side note it is!

Some people seem to get overly surprised when topics like this get a little "hot under the collar" but personally, other than when it crosses the line a bit (eg.. Lyle's posts), I generally see it as healthy discussion, being undertaken by a bunch of likeminded people, passionate about their hobby.

We sure have some different views on things, but we do often forget that we are all part of the same hobby; we all have this crazy addiction in common.

.......ever the optimist!

Indeed. People pay good money for this type of entertainment! To think... I get it all for free (so to speak... ).

Indeed, and many here too frequently lose sight of that simple truth. Maybe we should start playing "Kumbaya" in the background?
