Not impressed with Global

Featured Replies

I work in the car business, selling retail parts, and I don't even have to put up with customers......or more importantly, none customers like some of these developers do. Amazing they still even try to make addons.

guys, just relax and enjoy your FTX global, don't waste your time on this.... OP in his profile has only UTX and GEX of addons and only this 2 products has served him well, Lyle 221 has joined avsim 23 days ago to start topic about how awesome is Flight1 Beechcraft Super King Air B200... etc, etc...

there are lot of kids in this forums, and probably some FTX competitors who want you to buy their products instead of this. There is nothing to prove here, FTX is much better, cheaper and it covers whole world....

Julian, my approach is perfectly fine, it's worked for me and Orbx since our inception, and I don't do PMs and email - too busy for that and just not interested.

Some folks call me arrogant and that's fine, maybe it's the Dutchman in me.

I don't put up with BS, call a spade a spade and don't tolerate rudeness, impatience and the instant gratification that seems to be the norm these days.

I could care less about arse kissers (if you think that's what people do) but I do get my back up at the vocal minority who post mainly to feed their own egos and agendas.

People know how I operate by now and those who don't like it can choose to not buy our products because of my style, again I could care less really.

Definitely I will not put money in their pockets.

damn my popcorns finished - time to start on the choc crispy cakes FILLED  with sultanas.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm now where is the pepsi to wash it all down with???

The strange thing here is how many developers demonstrate or even explicitly say that they don't care about their customers. The freaky thing is that they seem to be proud of it, too.

The good thing is that there are enough decent developers out there, too.

Also I don't think that the "only 0.5% of the customers criticise in forums and the rest is happy" argument is valid. A lot of customers never ever write in a forum.A lot of people don't say anything because they don't want to waste more time and energy in a matter because they realize that it is pointless anyway...or want to avoid a conflict.... or in some extreme cases don't want ot be thrown out of a forum because criticism is not wanted or accepted.

This is exaclty why I do not buy your products any longer. It is sad that you could care less...

+1, I stop buying long time ago, and not because of their products....

As long as ORBX like promised delivers the OpenLC products which should fix these incorrectly placed textures I will surely keep buying from them...

And when it comes to customer service, well I understand overly negative feedback written in bad tone can be annoying, however usually responding to it in aggressive way only makes things worse while friendly and more understanding approach can make things better. That's what I do, even when receiving negative feedback written in bad tone I try to be respectful and friendly at first and usually that leads to better results.

Exactly what I was thinking!

Hypothetical question.

I book a flying lesson with you ...I arrive at the airport...i see you standing by your aircraft and say....

your a Sh&*t pilot and your Aeroplanes a F&*$in rust bucket...would you teach me to fly?? or open the door and push me out at 5000ft

Alain this isn't about loving or hating Orbx it's about having some manners when using not just Orbx forum ..but any forum.

best wishes

Sorry, but blaming it on your heritage is not valid, John.

Lol!... inspired! ...... I thought the same

There is something unauthentic about the OPs post to me ...... It starts off very much along the lines of "I'm a Grandpa and don't really know much about this sort of thing....", then goes straight into comments and comparisons about GEX/UTX ...... clearly he knew what this product was and was not in my opinion.

I would bet this is an established user, with a drum to beat about Orbx, who is parading as someone completely without agenda, "just happening to say" that FTX Global is no good....

Saying all that, I personally feel John Venema's 'approach' can't really be argued to be anything else but out of control arrogance.   It's just how it is.   He likes to dismiss it off as a bit cool, and manly, but it's just ugly and a bit sad to be honest.     A good businessmen would not lose one customer due to his own persona ...........

Yes there will always be people saying "I won't buy product X because they don't finish their products, or because of this and that".....  but to lose customers due to your own arrogant and utterly contemptuous attitude towards your customer base is ................ insane.

At the moment, Orbx sell and sell and sell .... because the quality is high, and they don't have a lot of competition doing exactly what they are doing, and in the same way.           That can change overnight and businesses like Orbx do fall from grace sometimes, when the market landscape changes.

John, man up and hang up your 'mean old man' persona ..... its actually getting quite embarrassing.

You have credible Aussies like Jeansy who are now seeing your forum censorship and desperate ego issues for what they are.

As previously stated, - manners don't cost the earth, and it SHOULD work both ways - in fact the seller even more so(not being biased here btw) - what happened to the "customer is always right" (even though I think that's codswallop anyway), but the owness is on the supplier being more polite than the buyer - just because it's "the thing to do" purposes that way there is no comeback saying "your manners are shite"

My first Orbx product ever, I had a wide open mind after reading about all the "pros and cons". I wiped all GEX regions earlier today, doing my first flight in Europe now, with FTXG, UTX and FSGlobal, comparing as I go with Google Maps, I must say I am seriously impressed. Well worth the money, just as I felt my GEX regions were when I bought them.

did you have any problems with global ultimate and windows 7? I was just looking at it on amazon and it didn't specify W7, - does FSG Europe make a big difference? and why did you pick that over any other mesh available?
