At one time PFPX was an instant buy for me. Now with simbrief.com I'm not so sure...

Regardless, thanks for letting us know.

Very good news- thank you! This will complete my FS setup entirely.

Simbrief is cool and love the OFP format - but you can't edit fuel figures etc.

So is PFPX going to be the #1 flight planner and all in one solution? Does it also include the same features from TOPCAT since it's by the same developer? Would love to have 1 app that does it all.

Is PFPX better than FSBuild, FScommander etc when it comes to flight planning?

ASUS ROG Maximus Hero XII ▪︎ Intel i9-10900K ▪︎ NVIDIA RTX 3090 FE ▪︎ 64GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro ▪︎ Windows 10 Pro (21H1) ▪︎ Samsung 970 EVO Pro 1TB NVME SSD (OS Drive) ▪︎ Samsung 860 EVO 2TB SATA SSD ▪︎ Seagate 4TB SATA HDD ▪︎ Corsair RMx 850W PSU

TOPCAT will continue to exist, PFPX is a flight planner. When they first announced it they said that PFPX would take data from TOPCAT to include the information in it's briefing pack.

However, some time ago they said that they where having difficulty with this, we'll have to wait and see.

Everything that has been said about PFPX leads us to believe that it will be the most comprehensive tool of this sort seen so far.

Hello Gents,

TOCAT data can be included in OFP from PFPX if you have TOPCAT installed.

Cheers

I paid for TOPCAT.  Fool me once, shame on you ... fool me twice, shame on me.

TOPCAT is not included in PFPX. No TOPCAT - no takeoff data (well not that detailed anyway). Besides, TOPCAT owners are supposed to get a discount (if CG keeps his word from way back)

Someone has got it a bit backwards here...

When releasing a FP in PFPX, the relevant data will populate TopCat for T/O and landing performance calculations. If you own them both that is :)

Perhaps I don't have a full grasp of what PFPX is  supposed to accomplish.  It was my understanding that PFPX was the be all end all of flight planning.  I'll take another look.  All I know is there was limited support for additional aircraft in TOPCAT, which kinda irritated me.

PFPX = Professional Flight Planner X. It's suppose to be a complete flight planner that is similar to what dispatchers and pilots in the real world use. It's at version 1.0 RC1 so it should be released very shortly I hope. Looking forward to this. I've been using FSCommander 9 and it's time for a change.

Yeah, I think they would have profited greatly on keeping up developing datasets for TopCat in stead of leave it hanging.

And yes, PFPX will be a one stop for all your planning needs, what I have seen so far is just awesome.

I hope that they will complete TopCat with the missing airframes when they get a breather after the release :)

It's within spitting distance now, folks!
