CYVR for FSX ok.

Featured Replies

Well, FWIW, FSDT CYVR is the worst performing airport I have ever purchased. For some reason, which I can't get to the bottom of, I get continual graphical spiking when moving the slightest amount on an external view and frames are extremely low in the upper teens in some areas. These problems are apparent even in fair weather and I have tried every single possible way of easing things with zero impact. Before anyone asks, yes I did get the demo so yes it is my own fault. All textures are run at 1024 with AG set at normal with very average settings throughout the rest of my setup. Following on from what Dave said regarding YBBN and YMML from Orbx, yes I agree, both are very high hitters but from my point of view, I do not suffer from the graphical spiking that presumably comes from graphical overloading of the GPU. Also, out of the two, IMO YBBN is definitely worse than YMML. Anyway, you can always download a demo of CYVR and try it out.

Howard, it's Jase here mate.

I did have similar issues to you a while ago.  I tried everything without success.  Now what I have done recently is use Nvidia 311 drivers.  I went for the new 340 driver but it removed my Nvidia Control panel and I couldn't for the life of me get my second monitor sorted or even load FSX on the working monitor.

I had a disk with the 311's on it and all is great now???

Hi Dave, mmm, I have done a clean reinstall twice now and run everything at low textures. I have to add that it's not the performance so much as the graphical spiking that is the issue. In fact frame wise, what you have reported is more or less my own experience...

This is something different. It sounds like either your graphics card is screwing up physically or the drivers as Jase has pointed out, although, I have 326 drivers and still no problems.

Graphical glitches are the GPU working too hard or not able to process it. Pop up the nvidia inspector the first part and have a look at the GPU load while flying around YVR. If its 100% or anywhere close and you have low low textures with minimal sliders, then there is something wrong with your graphics subsystem.

You can also search for the GPU burn in tests to really check out your graphics card. If there is anomalies that show up when its pushing it, you can rule out FSX altogether.

Hi Dave, it's Jase here.

When you installed your 326's did NVIDIA keep the control panel?  What I found with the latest 346's was that my control panel was removed and I couldn't sort out my dual monitor setup.

Strange.

Are any of you running CYVR with Orbx PNW and VancouverPlus V3 and if so how does that combo work?

Mike Mann

I have FSDT YVR, FTX PNW, Vancouver+ V3, FTXG and have NO problems.. Looks awesome and runs great. I run a custom AI setup from all of the freeware groups with traffic near full out. Do I get lower FPS in bad weather? Sure, but it's still flyable. When the weather gets bad I usually just lower my AI settings.  It's not perfect but it sure looks good and runs very well for being in one of the worst performing areas in FSX.

I got  cyvr  and have no problems in running it  so its  depends on what set up you have I guess

Hi everyone, I took the plunge and bought it and it seems to run very nicely.  The problem I am having is that I am getting traffic diamonds from my tcas in the F1 Mustang and getting traffic warnings about aircraft that are not there.  Many diamonds but very little traffic to be seen.

I did have a ray smith afcad in my addon scenery folder and removed that but still have the diamonds and warnings going off all the time.

Any ideas,

Regards

Bizarre. Never had issues with traffic. Doubt it has anything to do with CYVR itself. Have you tried another aircraft?

I get that too. Something with how the airport is designed. It get that at a lot of their airports if not all.

Do you guys know there is a TRIAL!? It's exactly the same as the registered version.

When I ran the trial I did not experience the OOM as the trial shut down before an OOM could occur (for me).

The OOMs (for me) happened after purchase. Then running CYVR for a slightly longer period than the trial allows the OOM occurred. Interesting.

This has been my experience.

I used to have  the same problem  as you till found out I had  duplicate airport cyvr (orbox) since  I also got  orbox  sceneries, once I removed the bgl  files  I was fine

Hi Pete,

I'll see if I can find them....I'm not the sharpest guy with the computer stuff but I'll look. Be great if it worked for me as I quite like CYVR.  Thanks for the idea.

Here's  a  duplicate  scanner  program that finds all  duplicate airport  on your fsx

If you got orbox  sceneries installed look for  any thing  that relates to cyvr etc than move them to another  folder  so you can  replace  them again if  required

What does CYVR have to do with OOMs? They occur from the cumulative total of addons using memory. If you don't have the ngx or any other addon but got CYVR first and fly around all day in a default aircraft you would not get an OOM. Then lets say you now bought the NGX after CYVR. Now your closer to the 4GB VAS. So now its the NGXs fault?

Run process explorer 64. To see what your total VAS is. Run CYVR with weather clear. Nothing else except default Cessna. Check VAS. Now add weather. Check VAS. Now add another payware plane. Check VAS. Its getting closer to 4GB isn't it. But its not CYVRs fault. Nor any other airport for that matter or any plane.
