Will Microsoft Flight still work after GFWL closes?

Featured Replies

No sir, I am not suggesting any, cracked, modified, or reversed engineered version of FSX.

I am referring to clean, legal, untouched versions of FSX.

Where can I find them?

Find what? The crack, or the legal? The legal you can find in Flight Sim Stores. The crack... no comment. I know where you can find one, but I do not want anyone breaking the law.

Please show us these free Microsoft-sanctioned legal downloads of the FSX software that we can use our existing GFWL FSX keys with.

Is it true that Microsoft Flight is no longer working on Steam? I left for a trip on the 23rd and now I'm back, but I had no idea about this.

I didn't have Microsoft Flight installed anywhere now. Am I screwed?

You can't buy any DLC from Steam anymore...

I've been meaning to reinstall since a PC rebuild but haven't got around to it.

I bought some of it from GFWL and some from Steam....not sure where to start in getting it to work again!

Cheers

Keith

...

Get it via GFWL here .

I think when FSX shut down it was probably a surprise to Ballmer.  He doesn't get involved at decisions of that low level.

I'm still trying to sort out all the side affects of these GFWL changes, but other than the multiplayer not working, I have a work around that will let you guys play Flight past July 1 next year, so I wouldn't worry about your stuff not working.

Stonelance, you rock!

May the force be with you.

Apparently if you ever bought a Flight DLC from steam, then Flight should still work via Steam.  If you only downloaded the free version from Steam and either didn't buy DLC, or bought DLC through GFWL, then you need to reinstall the GFWL version of Flight (http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9800616) and then all your DLC should work.

You've been making bad assumptions and misleading claims since you entered this thread.  I don't know if you're doing it out of malice or are just misinformed, but it's time now for you to put up or shut up.

Demonstrate your claims.  Show up this Microsoft-authorized free download of the FSX software that will install without GFWL connectivity and accept GFWL FSX keys.

Well just don't use FSX anymore then. Microsoft doesn't care, they already have your money.

Oh.  I guess this wasn't true, after all.

(Please note that none of this affects FSX.)

Thank you for clarifying that the demise of GFWL actually does create a problem for some FSX users and that friendship with Google isn't the solution.

Great, thank you for the clarification.
