Will Microsoft Flight still work after GFWL closes?

Featured Replies

Hehe. Please be quiet if you have nothing good to say. Respect for what it is, because you may hate it, but we do. We may not be able to play multiplayer, and actually, we will be able to use our DLC offline. I've used them before offline. There are still "other" people fooling around to see what they can make the best out of Flight in singleplayer. You can still have fun in singleplayer.

Franky, from what I have seen, MS Flight DESERVED to die.  Locking out 3d party developers guaranteed it would not live long.  Utter rubbish IMHO.

Have you tried Microsoft Flight? If so, you would see how optimised the engine was, how good the graphics were and how realistic the flight dynamics were. If you haven't tried Microsoft Flight, don't talk; it deserved, and it could have become much better than FSX. The Flight engine could have made FSX look like a toy.

It would be great if you can really use your DLC while offline. But will we be able to download it after that?

The official statement from Microsoft is here. http://support.xbox.com/en-US/games/pc-games/pc-marketplace-closing

Will I be able to purchase Games for Windows Live games in other marketplaces now that Games for Windows Live titles are no longer available on Xbox.com?

Games for Windows Live titles published by Microsoft are no longer available for purchase from any marketplace. For other titles, please check directly with the title’s publishers.

I understand Flight is a Games for Windows Live title.

You sir, have apparently not seen much. Did not your mother ever tell you if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all. Have I ever gone on another forum just to knock another product, no. I use a lot of them also.  We can't help it if an ill advised business decision on the part of MS doomed their entire flight sim franchise. The lights are still on and people are still working on improvements.

By denying 3d party content and creating aircraft with shallow avionics fidelity, Flight was doomed to be a "game" from the get-go, no?

Smooth it was I hear and leveraged the GPU properly (as FSX does not).  But that's not enough.

I do sympathize with those who got stuck, however.

Having said that, am I not free to offer opinions as well though you may not want to hear them?  I have played it.

Regards to all!

Helo_Head - you have every right to your opinion.  However, your comments would be much better received if you tempered them with a bit of respect for those of us that still use Flight.

Comments such as yours, in the abrasive manner in which they were presented tend to start verbal wars. I request that if you have something to share, by all means do so, but think about what you are going to say before you post it.

Thanks.

Thank you.

I can't see why you wouldn't be able to use your DLC off line..it makes no sense.  I'm sure people have tried using all their DLC off line and have had no issues. The speculation is utter BS.

edit..

I just disconnected my internet to my PC and flew the C46 in Alaska...no problems.  both paid for DLC.

You are of course correct, sir, I tend to shoot from the hip, a hard habit to break.

Cheers and regards to all.

I spent more money on FTX Global then I spent on all of MS Flight...and frankly it still looks like crap...

"When the twilight breaks, the dawn will fade. No one knows what the future will hold."

Got that from a sleepwalker from shooting camp.

He also said "Time waits for no one.", and "VIVE LA FRANCE."

All these quotes had a connection to the next day.

But the GFWL client won't be usable anymore after July 1st 2014. That means you won't be able to download the DLC again after that (not even sure if it'll work, because the DLC works via GFWL).
