Games whose online facilities and achievements will die July 1, 2014--some of these may no longer be able to be activated at this point and thus will be DEAD DEAD:

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon – Enhanced Edition
Blacklight: Tango Down
Bulletstorm
Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition
Dead Rising 2
Dead Rising 2: Off the Record
DiRT 2
Dirt 3
F1 2010
F1 2011
Fable III
Fallout 3
FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage
FUEL
Grand Theft Auto IV
Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City
Iron Brigade
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
Lost Planet 2
Microsoft Flight
Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection
Ms. Splosion Man
Operation Flashpoint: Red River
Red Faction: Guerrilla
Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City
Section 8
Section 8: Prejudice
Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Republic Heroes
Street Fighter IV
Street Fighter X Tekken
Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition
Universe at War: Earth Assault
Virtua Tennis 4

Should have never jumped on the Microsoft Flight ship. All my money spent on DLC will now go to waste.  <_<

The saddest news is, not only does this signify the death of Microsoft Flight, but also the death of the Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise.

I'm not sure I know what this means. Will we no longer be able to connect to online/multiplayer? I already know of the many endings in Flight (aerocaches, no more purchases), but will we still be able to use Flight? I'd be really sad if I could no longer launch Flight. Online achievements I never cared about anyway, but that facilities part worries me.

I'm starting to get a bit worried. I knew this day would come, but now it's here in an actual date. Let us all enjoy the one year we have.

Is there an official source that states this? I've never heard of this website, so I think that some official clarification would be nice to confirm it as a reliable source.

Microsoft clearly does not care about PC gaming anymore. There goes a bunch of their income.

At this point in time, this is merely rumor and supposition.  Anyone can read anything into it that they want and it still doesn't mean anything until Microsoft issues a statement. What the posting doesn't say is that maybe Flight will be moved to another server or maybe something else will happen to it.  Lots of possibilities exist.

Even at that, there is still almost a year left.  As anyone that has been around a while knows, a lot can happen in that length of time.

As far as being worried about Flight suddenly biting it, I'm not. It's just something I've enjoyed for a year and a half, and if it ceases to exist, life will go on.  I hate to see it happen, but I'm not going to get too upset about something I have no control over.

Thank you.

The fact that they hired a former Steam executive to help with the gaming department really does suggest otherwise. Ending GFWL is probably part of their process in eliminating their past and re-inventing their market strategies for games.

Perfectly stated +1

True say. Why didn't I think properly? Probably because I was focusing on learning how to teach how to shoot Air Rifles for the past 6 weeks through cadets. (Canadian Cadets) Sorry if my brain is still focused on shooting.

Back on topic, no more GFWL, then I'm going to guess that they're completely reinventing the multiplayer function, or making it similar to Xbox.

Doesn't need to be official. On July 1st 2014, the client and the online facilities will be shut down. This means no multiplayer for Microsoft Flight (which is handled by LIVE), and the DLC won't be usable (because the client won't be usable too). We might still be able to download the vanilla Microsoft Flight from Steam, but without any DLC and without multiplayer.

Read this information also on a german website today. According to them there was a statement about that on the Afe of Empires page, but was later removed byy MS.

So something is wrong there. A lot of people are discussing this issue because also other games are affected. It`s not only AoE and MSFlight that will be shut down.

All the games I posted in the original post are going to be the ones affected.

Franky, from what I have seen, MS Flight DESERVED to die.  Locking out 3d party developers guaranteed it would not live long.  Utter rubbish IMHO.
