Haha, flamesuit on, stat!

On another note, it's a pity that there are no good sceneries for Paine. Anyone have pics from KPAE in the Orbx PNW?

I swear some people think they can reverse engineer products or steal souls instantly.

As far as I understood it while taking the tour, the reason they don't permit cameras is that you're on catwalks that are suspended over the assembly line. The risk of a guest dropping their camera over the edge while getting that great shot and it injuring a worker or damaging an airplane is worth not permitting them.

Also, when I visited Embraer the main reason they gave us is mainly costumer privacy issues, which makes sense. I wouldn't want my plane to be on news before I've even seen it.

Plus they probably don't want people snooping around waiting for an employee to do something wrong outside the control of the company and getting a picture taken.

I took a tour of the plant last year and it was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. Even my girlfriend, who isn't into planes, loved it!

Boeing won't let you take pictures inside the plant though. Words cant express how huge the inside of the building is. 747s looked like little toys parked inside.

If you are ever in the Seattle area, you HAVE to go.

Do they charge for the tour? Or is it promotional?

I know people specifically go to Seattle for just to see Boeing.......

The T7 was based at Boeing field, KBFI, during all of the certification testing. It would fly to other fields for tests requiring special conditions such as brake test, high altitude landings etc. Moses Lake was used for certain tests. For most tests not requiring special fields it flew out of KBFI.

Once the plane is FAA certified, then pre delivery customer flights are done out of Paine Field.

Really?

I thought they are built and tested out of PAE, then used to be delivered at museum of flight at (PAE?), even now they now have a delivery centre

Thought I'd add a two pence, the reason for no cameras may be similar to a few employers I've worked for... privacy...

Believe it or not my ex employer would not let any photography or videography on premises for employee privacy unless it's the employers own photo's or video's.

The tour costs money. How much, I don't recall.

Very reasonably priced, I did the tour last July, got to meet the project manager on the 787 since his sister was in our tour group.  I also go to see one of Lufthansa's new 747-8is coming fresh out of the paint hangar.  Highly recommend this tour to anybody interested in aviation.  The Future of Flight museum there is also neat.  They have a GE90 on display.

Really?

I thought they are built and tested out of PAE, then used to be delivered at museum of flight at (PAE?), even now they now have a delivery centre

They are built in Everett, PAE. The first planes built of a certain model, ie 747, 767, 777 etc. are tested at Boeing Field. The first flight is obviously from KPAE but it lands at KBFI. This is where the Flight Test center is located. The certification tests are run from there. Several planes are in test at the same time and each one has test instrumentation to gather data for the specific tests they will be running. Depending on the test they are conducting they may leave Seattle for several weeks at a time to an area specific to those tests. For instance braking, high altitude takeoffs, cold temperatures etc. Once the plane is FAA certified it is then delivered to the customer.

After a certain model is certified all of the rest of the planes built in Everett, KPAE, are delivered from there.

Hope this helps.

Tom

You really should get a job working at an airline that buys Boeing planes. I've been on the floor of the plant in Everett and walked the whole floor. Which was a workout that thing is huge.

didn't they do the cold weather test in Montana? I can't remember where though just remember reading it somewhere.
