Angle of Attack now charging subscription fees to download videos

Featured Replies

I purchased the training package back in 2011 and noticed earlier in the year that the downloads weren't available, e-mailed support and got told to wait for the new site and then all of a sudden this additional charge :O !

They seem to be some amateur outfit and I don't know why PMDG directly associate themselves with them.

Any notice of price or content changes should be presented in advance to the customer, no company I know of would do a thing like this without at least a month (or even more) notice.

I spoke on Support to 'Chris' and all he kept saying was 'Our bandwidth is expensive and we have to pay $4000 and It's costing my wallet'

It's like understandable but I am your customer so WHY should I care? Frankly I shouldn't, I paid for a service and you have to honour that.

I will NEVER purchase a thing again from them and shocked at the way they're acting

Honestly, if it were the costs of new servers for the new, fast site, I would revert to the old site. Just because I believe paying such an amount for something that I could do back in the old site for free is just a bit ridiculous.

I know there's a lot of money in aviation because I put it there.

They should of expanded in to other products tbh, limiting your self to a small handful of products like they do is insane as there is plenty of decent addon aircraft they could cover and set the price accordingly to the level they take it. They have the skill to do that and they would be great at doing vids for aircraft like the dash 8, 737-200, cheap short training vids people can buy and download and they really should expand in to x-plane aircraft as well.

I do fly the NGX ( also fly the Aerosoft A320 as try to do regional flights over europe ) and i have been thinking about the vids they make but now im not so sure.

They are the reason why i brought and love the Carenado 152 :)

Guys, I've just logged in (737 Captain's) and  I'm at a loss, where are the downloads?

I have only Get Started and Extras active. GroundWork, FlightWork, LineWork are orange.

And the time is ticking away.

Thanks,

Dirk.

Forgot to add, I received the email with the 'links', but clicking on them (say 737 Captains Package) kicks me to the Checkout page again.

Thanks,

Dirk.

I've sorted it out, the system has not updated my email (on the order and login), so I'll roll with the old one for another 6+ days.

Dirk.

Like many others already said, this might not have been a very vise business decision...

I downloaded all videos earlier today because who knows for how long AoA will be up and running as a company and if/when they are not how would I then get access to the product I paid for...

I was able to download all videos but these:

GroundWork:

- Secondary flight controls

FlightWork:

- 737 Pre-FlightWork PMDG Options

- 737 Pre-FlightWork FSUIPC and Controls

- 737 Pre-FlightWork TrackIR and EZCA

LineWork:

- 737NGX Flows- Bleeds Off Takeoff

- 737NGX LineWork Flight 3

- 737NGX LineWork Flight 4

- 737NGX LineWork Flight 5

- 737NGX LineWork Flight 6

Also have a bad experience with AoA, complete mess, totally unprofessional, the way they do things and now I can't even login, they sent me links which don't work. Be warned

My last comments on this, as I am not an AoA customer

I will also forego this option, I am not giving out anymore CC info than I absolutely have to do. I received an 000-000-0000 call three days ago for the first time. A few mths ago Wells Fargo sent me a letter on my credit "application", one I did not submit. I've never used Wells Fargo, but they did buy a bank that I once used for payroll. One of the reasons why I try to restrict personal information is that if someone who has my information is compromised, then I may become a victim as well. Any site can be hacked. I don't want to have to go hunting someone no matter where they may be, or how secure they may think they are. Revenge is a dish best served cold. I can't abide "users".

Yeah not entering my credit card info for this deal to extend downloads.

I will try the plugin to download from the steaming website.

I will never buy from AoA again and their reputation is now down the drain.

Just curious...for all this money they're charging, do any of their products include input from actual pilots of the aircraft they feature?

You guys may want to reconsider talking about the "free streaming downloads", as if you are downloading copyright content that is highly illegal.

I think the reason for their decision (long long emails and blog updates) was technical cost that was involved.  Copyright wise customers should have already legally purchased the license for the media.  And AOA is charging (partially) because they are spending more than they were expected to spend on downloads, therefore if you can find another way of providing free download service (that they couldn't provide), then I don't see what's so illegal about doing it that way...

I don't agree with the charge on existing products, new products like some of you already mentioned is fine to be streaming only.  But at the time of purchase, we have "agreed" and legally OWN all the conditions upon the time of purchase.  So at the time of purchase, one of the terms we agreed to was the ability to download the video at any time we wish.  Although it doesn't bother me practically to stream the videos, but just the principle of this is a bit.....

Learning to use and getting use to FSX!

I think the issue here is people paid for a service they were promised and never received the full value of it and now they are being told to download everything they want now in a 2 day window or pay 30 dollars every 60 days to have unlimited access (even though that was not part of the original contract). Seems to me like someone dropped the ball here and it definitely wasn't the customers.

Did they ever kicked off with the linework stuff where you had someone essentially tutoring you one-on-one that was subscribed monthly, but captain package customers had 3 months included as their purchase?  I can't recall seeing that happening?

Learning to use and getting use to FSX!

This is consumer fraud, plain and simple.

I bought their 767 training form them a couple of weeks ago. Since I paid with Paypal, I opened a dispute with Paypal. I want my money back.

If enough people file disputes with Paypal, Paypal will close their account. This can be the death knell for many businesses,

Similarly, anyone who paid with a credit card should initiate a dispute with their credit card company. Again, if their are enough charge backs, they will lose their merchant account. For an Internet business, that is the end.

Meanwhile, simviators need to get the word out about these dishonest and fraudulent practices.
