Fuel Dump Simulated?

Featured Replies

First of all: I keep my deep respect for ALL people posting here.

Second: English is not my first language.

This being said, the following is about the triple 7. I'm wondering why people start threads asking questions that are clearly explained in ALL documentation released with the add-on. Guys, believe me: ALL your answers and procedures are pretty well described in the Manuals. An example: like maaaany of you out there, I'm a FSUIPC user, who assigned and calibrated all my axes using this Pete Dowson's marvel. Well, everything went like a charm until PMDG 777 came out and the famous throttle issue appears. My first though: "I'll delete fsuipc.ini file, let FSX create a new one and will assign and calibrate all from the beginning. This surely fix the throttle issue". Results: NO WAY! The weird throttle behavior remain there, gettin' me upset. The following text is extracted from the PMDG 777-200LR/F Introduction Manual:

"The PMDG 777-200LR/F is fully compatible with FSUIPC except that we recommend that you do not calibrate your flight controllers through FSUIPC. We recommend that you use the driver/software that comes with your hardware. (Calibrating through FSUIPC may not cause any problems, but in certain circumstances with certain hardware we found that problems existed that could only be resolved by having the user conduct the calibration via the driver/software.)

I went back into this and applied this recommendation to my setting. Results: At the time I'm posting this, 9 long-hauls and 4 short/mid-hauls flights taxiing, taking-off, cruising, descending, approaching, landing and taxiing to the ramp WITHOUT even a minimal throttle issue. This also include inflight A/T disconnect and re-connect for test the system. No issue.

Obviously one of the main goals of this forum is to post experiences and issues in order to get that useful advice or recommendation from another user that has helped me many times. I really appreciated it! But came on guys, don't buy an add-on, install it, run FSX, jump into the cockpit and if you see this or that doesn't work as you expected, come here and open a thread posting "Engine issue, Autopilot problem, FMC doesn't work...etc..." OBVIOUSLY, issues happens, especially in a pretty new add-on but if you look into the Manuals and follow some basic steps BEFORE to fly, probably you'll certainly have an issue but surely you'll be closer to have a rock solid stable configuration which will give you long hours of fun. Sorry about grammar faults

Have nice flights, Cpts!

And then you can top it off with repeated topics about the same thing.

I can see that people need help with procedures, as documentation might not always do it. The community is also about asking questions about flight simming :)

Im a big fan of Kyle's I want YOU to read the manual Signature =) - Though I can't remember if he still has it on.. I guess he has the Beta sig on atm :P

Then pull the Fuel to Remain knob. It will automatically dump to max landing weight.

Incorrect. If you do this it will enter MANUAL mode of operation. Leave the knob pushed in for AUTO. Pull ONLY if you want manual mode!!!!

Best regards,

Robin.

ok tried it manual, and worked. in the automatic mode does the nozzle turn to off automatically?

haha - I put the manual signature back on soon after the plane released.  Heck, I even made my manual rant into a video (specifically why it's important for the community as a whole).

You're all definitely right, though.  The manuals are where I go to answer everyone else's questions anyway, unless it's something related to ATC or the like.

fuel dump only works on center tanks ? another question, it is giving the time used while dumping the fuel, is there an option where I can see how long would it take for dumping the requested qty?

Hi Kyle,

Absolutely concise, as usual!

I cannot understand why so many questions are raised when the answers are so often in the manuals.

dear Sir,

with all my respect to everyone. the aim of the forum is to get straight answers to a specific question,(and this applies to any forum whether it was related to work or anything else) + I am not going to fly the actual plane or get a CPL. maybe sir you have time to read 1266 pages this is if we are only talking about FCOMV2.

as for others we do have work as well and a social life and not dedicated 24/7 for reading the whole manuals. [if manuals would do the job you wouldn't see any post on the forum except for bugs] if you have nothing to do than mocking people kindly keep your comments for yourself. better not to answer than criticizing people in the forum.

for myself I subscribed to the AOA 777 Training and it was very useful, but still there are uncovered topics such as alternate airport and diversions, fuel dump .....

respect !!!

So... If you know what questions you'd like to see answered, why not just use the search function in the manuals?

dear Sir,

with all my respect to everyone...

Dear Sir,

I suspect if you were to give it a try, you would find that most things in life, not just flight simulation, benefit from reading the manuals. Like you, most of us do not have the time (or the interest) to read all of them from cover to cover, but ten minutes spent learning how they are organised and how to reference them will save you ten minutes the very first time you have a problem. And you will save another ten minutes the second time, and every time after that. Then you will quickly find that you are not having problems and so save yourself a whole lot more time.

Whether you are trying to fly a T7, program a washing machine, or use a self-service checkout at your local supermarket, a few minutes attention spent reading the instructions always ends up being worthwhile.

While I understand you sentiment, your reasoning isn't exactly sound.  So many people claim the time/life issue when in reality you actually spend a lot more time asking a question and having to sort through all of the answers here than if you just searched the manual for your answer.

As someone with a full time job, two part time jobs and an on call job (no joke: contracting, real estate investment, design and software testing, respectively), I know the value of time management.  Saving time where I can is important for me.

You don't need to actually read the FCOM like a book.  For the casual simmer, it should be a little more like reference material.  If you get stuck, consult it by opening it and using CTRL+F.  You'll get the answer a lot faster that way than having to open a browser, come here, navigate to the proper subforum, type up your question, post it, and wait (and wade through all of the poor answers and commentary about how it's in the manual).

The benefits are twofold:

1 - You get the answer a lot faster, and likely in greater detail

2 - You get the original answer (if you've ever played "Telephone," you'll know why this is important, and you can definitely see its effects here in the forums)

The fact of the matter, though, is that you bought a study sim.  If you want to use its more complex functions, it's going to require a little work on your part.
