Sweetfx 1.5 is released

I have to spend some time with 1.5.1, then.  - I agree about 1.4 - lots of "down" time... :mad:

Umm yes sure, took an early evening flight out of Kenya International yesterday. Here are some shots while flying over the dessert during sunset.

This is using DX10, SweetFX 1.5 and SHADE. Obviously you can see I am flying the 737NGX here. Will post some day shots when I get a chance.

I will explain why this can happen.

Sometimes, when you close fsx abruptly, it will corrupt the sfx files. Re-installing sfx files fixes the problem in a jiffy. When that happens you get a CTD without any msg.

It's important then, to backup your sfx settings file every now and then, because when things go bad, that file is the number one suspect to go corrupt and then you will lose all of your settings (if you had any custom ones).

Which file exactly?

Thanks,

Dirk.

PS: ok, it's the settings txt file I understand.

Yes make sure AA is turned off in FSX! You need to set up your graphics card to handle this using the Inspector.

Hi There Matthew. Are you able to post your Inspector settings. I'm using Sweetfx but have got shimmers. AA is off in fsx so i think its how Iv'e set up the inspector settings. Would really appreciate it.

I am having the same problem. Can't get SweetFX and SteveDX10 working toghether. I have to disable AA in FSX and it looks terrible. Would really appreciate the help.

Thanks,

Victor.

Pe11e. Many thanks for the reply. I already have sweetfx working using Adi's help. Its the AA settings and clarity when not having AA within FSX ticked, but instead use Nvidia Inspector. That's the settings I'm after.

Hmmmm I'm getting pretty good AA with the Fixer and these lines in cfg:

MultiSamplesPerPixel=4
MultiSampleQuality=0 (you can try 8)

You can't adjust AA via Inspector, that's a known fact.

As Pelle says, Pete (and is written in Steve's blog site, in the DFX10 "How-To" Guide, and in Charles Earls ATI AA) >>> neither Inspector nor RadeonPro/CCC have any effect at all on AA. They do not work. AA MUST be ticked within FSX, and then set as per Pelle's example above. Here is a reasonable example.

If you want to improve the IQ - I suggest you work with SweetFX or FXAA.

Hi PJ. Thanks for the heads up. I actually didn't realise that the DX10 doc had been updated and had some great info regarding AA and the Multi-sample Quality and what they mean. I've used that guide last night and I have to say, I don't think Ii have ever had my flight simulator running as good. The graphics are stunningly clear and am so pleased with the advice everyone has given. SweetFX just gives it that little bit extra and allows me to change the mood a little using different configs. I also have managed to degrag over the last couple of days and I think that's helped enormously.

I'm off for a nuclear scan middle of Feb regarding the continuing headaches. At least all this free time has allowed me to fine tune my PC.

This hobby just gets better and better.

Hmmm.... not nice..

Hi Pete; That began to happen to me after about three months of playing Far Cry 3 on the triple-monitor setup. I stopped playing it, and they went away after about three days. I've switched to a single 2560 x 1440 now, and it seems fine, but a PITA to re-jig it all back up to fly the sim.

Anyway - good luck,

pj
