October 20, 201312 yr Not going into functionality, efficiency, etc, but I really don't like all the new concept airplanes for the future. I'm talking looks here alone. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's just too weird for me. Too Star Trek-kie. All the concepts I've seen are ugly, IMO. I also think the A380 is the ugliest jetliner. I guess I'm old school with my favorites being the DC-10, MD-11, 727, L-1011, 747, Fokker 28 to 100, etc. No disrespect to Airbus fans or those who like the new concepts. Just sharing my personal opinion on looks. Nature Boy

October 21, 201312 yr The first thing that came to mind was the old saying: "You can always dream". The second thing that came to mind is what if something went wrong with the system? They already have some of the technology. We have yet to see anyone take a leap of faith and leave the pilots at home. Back to the first sentence.

Just sharing my personal opinion on looks. I think they don't look as if they could fly, to begin with! Very little wing area and a huge body, how is that going to work? And the centre of mass is well ahead of the wing too! Too many computer effects and too little aerodynamics - kind of like Iron Man who manages to fly in a straight line around half the world with no wings, rockets in his boot soles and his arms tucked along his body ...
