Will major addons work on P3D v2?

Featured Replies

Hello all!

I just saw the news on Avsim that P3D v2 will be out THIS MONTH! (:D)

With DX11 engine in place what are we looking at for compatibility of major addons? Im talking about the PMDGs, Flytampas, Aerosofts (scenery and airbus x), GEX's, REX's, ORBX etc....

Will we be seeing updates and patches or should we see backwards compatibility with P3D v2? Also I like flying with FSinn online and I was also wondering about that.

Im excited for this! will buy right away!

I am looking forward to the release myself.  It looks like a lot of the big Flight Sim Bubbas are already working with LM to incorporate a smooth transition but I am sure there will be some add-ons that will take awhile to get on P3D.

And what about peripherals (radio stacks, etc) and FSUIPC?

Frank Olaf Sem-Jacobsen

It appears like everybody par PMDG are into Prepar3d V2 which is a shame and as for FSUIPC and peripherals if they were supported in 1.4 I suppose they'll be made to work in V2 :P

If pmdg can't port Boeing because of licence agreement then they should work on something different that won't conflict with current licence arrangements otherwise future sales are going to suffer

(If P3D really is as good as I am reading about)

Anyone know where FSLabs stand on P3D. Be nice to know there would be a highly complex a320 someday for this platform

In time I am sure most stuff will work. P3D 1 had a rough start, but after a while all my peripherals have been supported (TrackIR, Saitek cockpit modules etc.).

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

For me all saitek gear works without a problem in P3Dv2 , that includes the Radio panel, so as FSUIPC. scenery that had issues with DX10 (e.g. Dubai) , do not have those issues in P3Dv2 - working fine.

also old FS9 Scenery (airports mainly I tested), work fine in P3Dv2.

The file structure in P3Dv2 is almost identical to the file structure that we got used to in FSX, which will make it easy to port over scenery from

FSX to P3Dvs.

some Airports scenery I noticed had issues displaying the runway lights, but I saw only one that had that issue.

it could be a very simple fix I believe.

Something tells me a lot of the major things will work......and from now on any future major release will be friendly with v2 because so many people are ready for the upgrade switch!

Some of the developer comments I've been reading since the lifting of the NDA are certainly eye-opening.  Look at the comments at Umberto's link, for example, and you can see that the question might soon be not "Will my old FSX add-ons work?" as it will be "When will developers start taking full advantage of some of the new features?", or perhaps even more, "When will they drop support for FSX on new products?".

Interesting times, for sure.

And what about peripherals (radio stacks, etc) and FSUIPC?

Peter updated FSUIPC for v2.0 a while ago. He was a beta tester.
