November 21, 201312 yr Hi everybody, I have a question to all of you, excited to hear your thoughts... With the release of P3D V2, I see a-lot of the big name developers (except PMDG) going over to P3D, and showing new features, and stuff, they hint that they now favor P3D. I don't know about you, but now I am very very hesitant to buy anymore add ons for FSX, because I am afraid in the years coming, developers are going to start abandoning FSX, and going to P3D. Just like they did with FS9, to FSX... I have tons of $$$ invested in FSX, do you guys think I should hop the bandwagon now to P3D before it's too late??? I hear a-lot of people saying PMDG will move over "eventually". After all, P3D is still being supported and developed., and FSX isn't. ..
November 21, 201312 yr I should hop the bandwagon now to P3D before it's too late??? Too late? Too late for what? Im not planning on using P3Dv2 until I see some feedback, I'm not one of these jump on the bandwagon type. Fsx not supported? I see alot of support on forums. FS9 users remain loyal even to this day. Kind of a moog comment!
November 21, 201312 yr Like should I jump ship now, before all the developers start going to P3D, and I have all this money wasted on FSX... like exactly what happened with FS9 users.
November 21, 201312 yr There was just a thread about the very same topic a few days ago: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/426019-by-show-of-hands/ I don't see a massive migration to P3D yet, and FSX will probably remain the #1 platform a while longer. November 21, 201312 yr Well the migration from FS9 to FSX was very gradual, over years and years... But thanks for the answer
November 21, 201312 yr P3D costs quite a lot (i'm not buying some $59 thing and having to look at a watermark all the time), so it has to prove itself REAL good before i make my move. This might take quite a LONG time. November 21, 201312 yr Commercial Member Most of the FSX stuff should work just fine on Prepar3d V2, thus I see no reason to stop buying stuff for FSX. I think I will slowly move to use it as my main simulator especially if it manages to offer greater stability than FSX does. Sometimes just switching view in the wrong moment makes engine sounds disappear with some complex addon aircraft (such as QW 757 and PMDG 737NGX) and my flight ends up in a CTD. Thankfully FSUIPC autosave + FSCaptain restore function save me from total frustration when this happens but still I would prefer a simulator where it wouldn't happen at all. If PMDG gets the legal stuff sorted out and makes all their aircraft fully compatible with Prepar3d then there would be no reason to even keep FSX installed anymore.
November 21, 201312 yr For you sure. November 21, 201312 yr For me I have just recently started using FSX more than FS9. The great thing? As long as your hard drive has space, you can have BOTH installed. Eric Tomlin Flight Line Simulations www.FlightLineSimulations.com
November 21, 201312 yr This is great! Now we have 4 simulators and none of them are complete. MSFS
November 21, 201312 yr Like should I jump ship now, before all the developers start going to P3D, and I have all this money wasted on FSX... like exactly what happened with FS9 users. Well, I for one don't consider the money I have spent on FS9 wasted. I still use it all the time, and really enjoy what I have. So, no waste here. Regards, Joe Esposito
November 21, 201312 yr If PMDG comes to the table, then a lot of folks will gradually start leaving fsx and move on to p3d. I am staying with fsx, why???? I do not need another sim with fancy graphic, amd more of the same headaches like fsx,,,,,,,,, microstutters, blurries, frame hits, tweeking, I am for now at least a FSX man.......
November 21, 201312 yr Like should I jump ship now, before all the developers start going to P3D, and I have all this money wasted on FSX... like exactly what happened with FS9 users. Money wasted??? Did the add ons not provide many hours/years of fun for you? Did it not enhance your FSX experience? I don't get it. It seems like many people feel they need to "switch" to P3D when it comes out and abandon FSX. You will still have your FSX and add ons. You can still fly FSX even if you have P3D. Forget the "I must get the latest and greatest" mentality. Just enjoy your sims. I fly FSX and FS9. I still buy add ons for FS9 and I don't consider it a waste of money. As long as you still enjoy FSX, keep flying it. Even if the next P3D is great, there is still no PMDG. You'll still be flying FSX for PMDG. Nature Boy
November 21, 201312 yr Even if the next P3D is great, there is still no PMDG. You'll still be flying FSX for PMDG. Exactly. And there is no reason not to have both installed. You don't have to delete fsx just because you have P3D installed.
