not to sidetrack, but what other releases are there Monday?

I have to wonder if L-M has ever seen the kind of server stampede they're likely to experience when the P3D link goes live!!

uhm... judging from the fact that the servers at FlightsimStore took a beating today from the simultaneous downloads of the P3D2-enabled installer for Orbx GlobalFX, I guess they are in for some interesting time ....

So true pmdg was prepared for the 777 release but we still managed to crash the servers. Lockheed better pull some skunkworks designed servers in to cope with the load haha

This is one I'd rather have in boxed form.  At some point I hope they offer a boxed release.

After downloading Aerofly FS I'm not looking forward to something of this size.

Hopefully their not using the same group that's been working on the Obamacare site...

FS2020

Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

Pretty sure connections aren't crashing the servers, but bandwidth limits are more likely cause for slow response.  FYI, IIS7 can handle about 5000 concurrent connections with just one CPU ... don't know about Linux.  If PMDG servers were crashed from concurrent connections, PMDG might want to look at an alternate hosting or co-location (assuming it wasn't hacking attempts).

Just use flashget to download it its great and I've never had an issue using it to download 18-20 gb files.

Totally agree. For $199, it would be nice to receive something that I could actually open and hold in my hands.  I remember the days when flightsims were all packaged in a largish box, which was needed for the printed manuals that came with them.  When given the option, I nearly always by the boxed version of any software.

$199? My guess is that LM will be seeing a lot of "Academic License" purchases tomorrow....

That's what I'll be buying but I'm also in college

I'm no longer a student, so I do not qualify for their Academic License ... even though I cannot really afford the Professional License.  I'm disabled, and I know students who have a lot more money than I do (but I feel like I should still follow the rules).

I used to be a 'gimme-a-box-guy' but the last few years I went totally digital. Whenever I buy another game it's always through Steam or Origin. (Not that I buy a lot of games but still...) No more boxes lying around and what's even nicer: whenever you reinstall your PC and reinstall that downloaded software, your settings and progress or whatever are there instantly! It's bloody awesome! ^_^ Although this won't be the case with P3D and addons, of course, but still, I like it.

That's my guess also. It's sad but that's how it is. (I couldn't find a holy smiley...) But I am more interested if I will be able to download Prepar3D tomorrow. I fear it will take a few days before I can install it: I don't have the idea LM is Prepar3D (I'm so funny) for what's going to hit them tomorrow. ^_^ I couldn't even download FTX Global 1.1 today...!

They/LM dont get to work until 8:00 am Monday morning. What, you afraid they are going to run out and start issuing rain checks. :)

I suggest everyone get a good download manager.   They will speed up the download greatly.  I purchased 1.4 a few days ago with Chrome and it was using only about 1/3 of my bandwidth.  I installed "free download manager" which seems ad free and safe, and was able to increase to full bandwidth.   There may be better ones.   Some of them, including FDM, but I didn't look at it that closely, may use other sources that already have the file to increase their speeds.   The more of us we get on them the better.
