November 27, 201312 yr Discloser: Not a P3D user. Just a curious bystander at this point.... What do you folks think of the default aircraft in P3D V2? I've seen some nice screen shots and I've seen at least a few aircraft that I don't have in my FSX hangar. How do they stack up against the default FSX aircraft or FSX Add-ons? The cost a quality good add-ons for FSX could easily cover the cost of getting into P3D V2 if their aircraft measure up. November 27, 201312 yr Honestly, not being a real world pilot or someone too critical about the AFD I feel its like a payware addon... More or less like a lite real air plane. The fact it has no commercial jets, I can't make comparisons there but just talking about GA. That's my 2 cents. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk Brendan Chen Learning to use and getting use to FSX!
November 27, 201312 yr Not bad at all considering most of the stock aircraft are/were payware aircraft for FSX: Just Flight Lockheed ConstellationIris T-6 Texan IIIris F-22 RaptorDino Cattaneo F-35ACarenado A36 BonanzaSky Unlimited (or was it Aeroplane Heaven?) P-38 LightningAlabeo Extra 300 The rest are leftovers from the default FSX hangar. Nothing that will blow your socks off by any means, but a pretty solid selection - obviously with a slant towards Lockheed aircraft). The new aircraft are definitely a step up from the stuff that was included with FSX. Nick
November 27, 201312 yr The new aircraft are definitely a step up from the stuff that was included with FSX. Very accurate summary.. November 27, 201312 yr Agree. The military jets are a lot of fun to fly now that you can get great FPS in cities even with heavy autogen. With crash detection off, my son was "flying" on the streets of Charleston at 500 knots, and P3D did not skip a beat!
November 27, 201312 yr And don't forget the Mooney Acclaim which is quite nice! Of the default I only fly the Acclaim, Bonanza and Extra 300 (which is much better than the FSX version IMHO). The Constellation isn't bad either. Warcraft aren't my thing so I have very limited interest in the included fighters. I have noticed though that I can't get a black out or red out in P3D2... The aircraft selection menu is also very nifty in that you can add favourites and choose only to show those! Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
November 27, 201312 yr The F22 and F35 addition clearly shows that P3D has been made for the training of the few and not entertainment of the mass. Oops, what did I say :dirol:! November 27, 201312 yr Commercial Member The F22 is an absolute beast of an aircraft, very fun to do circuits in Aamir Thacker
November 27, 201312 yr The Acclaim in 1.4 is a great addon, which could have sold for ~$24 on its own. The A36 and Extra in 2.0 are fully featured $20 - $30 add-ons too. -
November 27, 201312 yr The F22 and F35 addition clearly shows that P3D has been made for the training of the few and not entertainment of the mass. Oops, what did I say :dirol:! Training can be entertaining B) . These guys have a lot to be proud of; would be great if they featured a Lockheed L-1011 in future.
November 27, 201312 yr Deletion of the venerable default C172 is unfortionate, but luckily we have some solid payware to make up for it. November 27, 201312 yr As others have said, the default planes are a very definite improvement from the FSX defaults! None of them would still probably get much flying time from me, because there are so many good addon planes out there. But the Carenado A36 is nice (so glad they replaced the awful G500 from their 'pay' A36 with steam gauges in this version!)..... I might fly that a bit, and also I love the Just Flight P-38s. They are really great fun and much much better quality than the MS defaults in FSX. Not a fan of the Iris aircraft but each to their own. Definitely some 'usable' aircraft, whereas with FSX I would never be flying any of the defaults these days.
November 27, 201312 yr But the Carenado A36 is nice I find the VC in that one so awfully dark…! I can hardly see things. It looks very cheap to me somehow. I like the Maule most up to now, also because it's a great plane to check out the scenery at a relaxed speed. ^_^
November 27, 201312 yr My hope is that LM would purchase the rights to Captain Sim's C-130, and finally do the systems modeling in the CS C-130 some justice! The CS C-130 looks and flies very nice, but the systems are woefully poor compared to real. BTW, I maintained C-130s for 20+ years.
