The MD-11 is my favourite PMDG simulation, and certainly the most interesting plane so far...

And if you get FS2CREW for it you will have even more fun! ☺

Yes, I can confirm. MD-11 and FS2Crew is a deep and immersive flight experience.

We will not see any PMDG MD-11 on Prepar3D 2.0, it's a shame!

MD-11 is the only bird I own from PMDG. This plane is different than any other, but is insanly more fun and easy to fly as soon as we take time to read the documentaion, practice, read again, practice and read again (I hope people complaining about the MCDU a joking...).

I wait a very long time before buying it, waiting for some kind of price reduction....and I finaly bought it, at the original price.

I'm VERY disapointed that MD-11 is abandonned. With  should this bird die ? P3D is certainly our futur in flight simulation (with Xplane), and now I must have both FSX and P3D installed just to fly the MD-11.

If that´s true, then I don´t really understand the developer´s complaints about low sale numbers.

Even a user update could boost the sales a bit.

Edit: Sorry, I tried to quote the comment on the VC textures update offered by a user and turned down...

They don't want to support MD11 any longer. That's why there will never be a MD11 sale.

I think the reasons are something to do with the EULA.

Sadly they hold the aces although I cannot, for the life of me, understand why? It's supposed to be a hobby.

I also think that if MD11 is dead project for PMDG, they could consider to 'open the door' for some talented painter who will make VC textures update. Just my wish ...

I think you are right, a new VC will give an extended life to this aircraft. i use it for all cargo operation and i can't remain without it.

I love too, It´s very cool product

I bought the MD-11 for FSX when I used it way in the past and loved it. I moved forward and onward with Prepar3D, having to leave it behind. I understand if PMDG does not want to revisit and rework the aircraft, as it appears to have left a bad taste in their mouth in terms of production time vs rate of return. But I am not comfortable about leaving it un-deservedly in the proverbial dust bin of the past. It was, and still is a great product. I would be willing to fork over $15 - $20 USD to be able to have an installer that just puts things where they belong in the folders in Prepar3D and allows it to function as is. I keep my fingers crossed that the MD-11 will not pass in flight simulation as it has has in reality. As a commercial pilot who has great affection and appreciation of these type of aircraft, I would see this as a great loss, and I hope they see it as well as one too. One can only hope they reconsider.

Gents,

One of the issues here is opportunity cost. This is some very basic ECON that you're welcome to research on if you feel inclined to continue making assertions of what people should, and should not do, along with the economics behind it. Some of the arguments in this thread are essentially like telling an airline "Hey - you don't need to fly to a destination that's a money maker. As long as some people are paying for some of the seats, it's totally a worthwhile endeavor. Never mind the fact that you could use that plane to fly to a more profitable destination."

Also, the DC-6 commentary really needs to be dropped. Utilizing it in arguments only really accents the reasons why we make decisions based off of actual data instead of a bunch of opinions in the forum. The DC-6 is being made because we needed a project to learn about a new platform. When you're teaching yourself how to paint, chances are, you're going to paint something you personally want to paint - something that interests you - instead of jumping right to trying to paint something that's going to be a museum piece.

As I've mentioned in other threads, I get that people love this aircraft. It is, and always has been one of my favorites. Who knows...maybe RSR will want to revisit it at some point. At the moment, though, I wouldn't count on it (with the exception of the potential updated installer for FSX:SE as indicated here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/459319-05jan15-fsxse-compatibility-update/)

How much work was involved in upgrading the 777 for use in P3D? I am for one willing to pay full price as per the 777 and NGX for a P3D version. Surely that would be a money spinner for PMDG eh?

I don't have P3D but I would think an older aircraft like the MD-11 would work in P3D after a bit of fiddling around.
