What makes you think we haven't reported since prior to v2 release the effects issue as have other developers? Another assumption.

Fine. Update the installer then.

More total utter assumption and  tosh. My word you are making the P3D community look bad :/

He has done that before Lewis. I will stop at that lest I use choice words that get me banned. CB - Asking for features is fine, getting petulant and demanding them else they won't get your business is childish.

Personally I feel Lewis has been more than patient and has answered your questions completely.

Just because you don't want to copy a file is no reason to keep beating the same old drum.

Meanwhile there are many who WILL enjoy the A2A products in P3D2 - your loss.

Will that make a difference?

Is getting my requests for full Prepar3D 2.x support (and that's something not requested just by me) called "utter tosh" fine? But of course you'll ignore that since you like to go against me.

They would be well within their rights to release a version with a P3D installer then charge you for it.

I cannot get over the sense of entitlement in this thread.

The Dev is encouraging you to install the product into a different platform free of charge, A2A are turning a blind eye here make the most of it.

Do not expect PMDG, Majestic or pretty much every other developer to be so accomodating.

They would be well within their rights to release a version with a P3D installer then charge you for it.

Do Orbx, REX, Carenado, Aerosoft and Active Sky charge for new installers? Face it, A2A's attitude about this matter is good compared to some others but not the best.

Some will and some won't, the market has not settled down yet.

I would like a P3D installer for my NGX but I know that it will not be free, neither was the iFly.

But arguing here with this Developer is not getting you anywhere,  apart from making them think hard about cross grade licencing.

I usually try to avoid threads like this but as a longtime A2A customer and occasional participant in their forums I thought I'd try to make a couple of additional points.

-- A2A appears to have a small development team and appears to prefer keeping them focused on developing new products as opposed to revising old ones (I say "appears" because I have no inside knowledge - I'm just guessing based on what I can see as an outsider).  This doesn't just apply to P3D but to other areas as well.  They don't update installers, so if you buy one of their products that predates the newer line and doesn't use the "core Accusim" updates, it can be a bit of an adventure trying to find out what sequence of installers and updates to use.  But it's a solvable problem - just takes some extra effort.  Updated installers would be nice but if the price is slower product development, that would probably make people unhappy, too.

-- There was recently a discussion on the A2A forums about how confusing it can be to figure out the differences in their multiple product lines, and there were suggestions that some website updates would help.  Again, this is probably a low priority (see above).  But like the point above, it suggests that P3D support for older products is one among several "asks" that takes a back seat to new product development.

-- Another factor - the P3D2 community is probably very small right now.  Judging by the participation here and in the LM forums, and keeping in mind that A2A won't sell to all P3D users, we might be talking in terms of a couple of hundred customers who want P3D2 support.  Figure the cost of assigning development resources to that, as opposed to new revenue-generating products.

-- Decisions about where to put resources get made all the time in all kinds of businesses, not just among flightsim developers.

-- Other developers have made different decisions.  PMDG said, "we'll tell you when it's ready."  Flight 1 said, "we'll melt your eyeballs if you try to install our products into P3D" (or something along those lines).  So "it seems to work, check with our customers on our forum" isn't the most obstructionist response out there.

-- It's all well and good to talk about other developers who already provide compatible installers, but they make products that work differently.  Accu-sim "talks" to the flightsim platform more often and in different ways than a scenery enhancement, a simpler aircraft, or even a weather program.  A better analogy might be PMDG, which to date hasn't made a P3D2 installer available or told us when it will be.

-- Speaking of the complexity of A2A's products - I haven't actually succeeded in installing any (not even the simpler Aircraft Factory ones) using the dummy-fsx.exe-in-the-folder technique.  I have to use the Estonian Migration Tool.  When I try to use the dummy fsx.exe, the installer insists on creating a dummy FSX folder and dumping some files into it.  This may be because I have FSX and P3D2 on different drives.

-- Using the migration tool, everything seems to work.  So that's something.

-- It probably won't be long before I'm accused of being an A2A fanboi (is that the singular of "fanbois"?  Is "fanbois" plural?)  If you're tempted, please note that I've been pretty sharply critical of A2A on their forums for not providing official P3D2 support.  I think a leading-edge developer should eventually support a leading-edge platform.  But I've tried to see the issues from their point of view also and per the above points, I can see why there might be some barriers.

In all, though, it could be worse.

My $.02.  As always, your mileage may vary.

Not getting involved in the war here, just wanted to drop by and say that I think it would be nice to have native P3D installers.  I'm still on FSX now, but when I go to P3D, I will be looking for addons that install just as conveniently into, and work 100% as well in P3D as they do in FSX.  Be it A2A or any other developer, it is just a desireable feature.

Some posters need to understand the difference between "compliant" and "compatible".

There are such things as dictionaries.

There are such things as dictionaries.

And there are such things as social skills.  For example, by providing a definition, you'd actually be moving the conversation forward, instead of simply basking in a sense of superiority while avoiding the risk of actual human contact.

But perhaps you're a graduate of Snave's charm school.

At any rate, no point in continuing this little distraction.  Apologies to other readers for the thread drift.  Back, now, to your regular programming, already in progress.

This thread is really kind of weird. Potential customers ask for P3D2 compliant products before they are willing to spend their money on them and a "professional" developer spends hours in this thread accusing people of expressing irrational requests. You guys are excellent programmers but you should seriously think about taking customer relationship management classes. Your behavior is extremely unprofessional and you should better spend your time on updating your products so they work flawlessly in P3D2 (including a proper installer) instead of bashing potential customers...

You could have found the meanings of "compliant" and "compatible" in less time you wrote your last point. Perhaps you were too busy thinking of insults?
