December 11, 201312 yr Author Yeah, I thought about leaving that one in too. I will bring it back. But that is it unless someone comes up with a really valuable addition. Tom I guess the 'Funny' icon would be nice to have back as well. Some people are posting some really creative posts and it would be nice to give them a quick nod back for creative humor. Dillon, we keep this up and we might as well bring back the entire system, and that ain't going to happen. Let's leave it at what it is.

Just thought I'd mention it. I promise this was going to be the last icon I would ask about. I was thinking about it yesterday when you brought the icons back what were the really useful ones. December 12, 201312 yr Commercial Member Tom, is there any way to make the rating system an option in the "My Settings" page? I personally have no problem with it, but for those that just can't stand it for whatever reason may like having the choice to hide it. Brandon Filer

I personally have no problem with it, but for those that just can't stand it for whatever reason may like having the choice to hide it. Why appease the vocal minority? I am quite sure those that claimed that they did not like the rating system are those that got caught out trolling or got a dislike because they, rightly or wrongly, went against popular opinion. On the other hand, I am sure they enjoyed any like they got from the community. That is afterall, a human trait. We all want to be liked rather than disliked and one good thing that I firmly believe about any rating system, is that it ultimately makes us all better and more courteous people in front of our peers. December 12, 201312 yr I had to dislike your comment ANZ. I do agree that the ratings should remain in full view and should apply to everybody. Nobody should be able to simply exempt themselves. But Instead of just being happy with your new buttons, I feel you misrepresent the entire discussion about this as being a case of opposition from mainly genuine trolls being called out by the 'good people' and only opposing the system because they simply disliked being called out. In an ideal world yes, and in some cases that was true. But in reality, there were far too many examples of 'good' people I saw getting massively dinged just because they weren't going along with the pro P3D hype, and you know it, because you were one of the ones doing the dinging. It wasn't just a onesy twosey thing here or there--people can go back and see the massive pile-ons for themselves, and who was doing it. Hopefully this behavior has abated now as the fervor dies down a little, and of course there is no point in rehashing what was already said--This thread should have been over yesterday. You have your little set of buttons back, so be happy. It is, what it is.
December 12, 201312 yr The rating system isn't intended to punish trolls. The actual trolls will be taken care of by the admins. The rating system is more useful to discourage people from being disagreeable, especially if they're being that way intentionally. It is quite possible to disagree in an agreeable manner. The rating system gives people a tool to learn how to do this if they don't already know how. It's interesting to check people's profiles and click on Ratings to see how voting is going.
