December 28, 201312 yr Hello all, I wanted to get a licensed version of X-Plane 10 (the curiosity was killing me!) so I played with the demo for a couple of hours. I decided to take the plunge and buy it, even if it would mean hours of getting it to look and look like good ol' FSX ( security blanket, I guess). But now, am I right in seeing that I can only order it via DVD? I cannot simply get a license key for the demo? Mario Di Lauro
December 28, 201312 yr 8 DVDs for all tha scenery. Demo does not have much scenery in its small volume. I do however understand your anx. They should at least let us have a serial key via email to unlock the demo for unlimited usage, but then this key would get passed about the net by someone.
December 28, 201312 yr Author Thanks peppy197, I assumed since Prepar3d came via download, why not XPlane. Oh well. Mario Di Lauro
December 29, 201312 yr Hi Mario, I don't know if it's available in Canada, but here in the US, there is a regional version of XPlane10 in stores. However, it only includes North America scenery. I was in the same boat long ago when it came out. When I was in my local computer store (microcenter), I saw it on the shelf and went that route instead of ordering the entire global version via shipment I had to wait for. Darn flight sims always bring the kid out in me every time... I want it now mentality..... :-) Best, Jeff
December 29, 201312 yr there is page dedicated on steam for xplane. the rumors are that it will come out in 2014 first quarter but no one can be sure of that. this is the only way you can download it .(besides the illegal methods)
December 29, 201312 yr Commercial Member the rumors are that it will come out in 2014 first quarter but no one can be sure of that. I wonder who the heck started that rumor. It's pretty amazing what people come up with, and as someone who has discussed this situation relatively thoroughly with Laminar, I'd venture to say this is quite false. Laminar's posting of XP 10 to the steam green light service was not by any means a letter of intent. Some people are reading far too much into that! Founder of X-Aviation

December 30, 201312 yr Thanks peppy197, I assumed since Prepar3d came via download, why not XPlane. Oh well. Why not X-Plane? I did a complete computer upgrade and when installing the entire XPX Global 8 disc set yesterday, the total hard drive space was about 79 gigabytes. Without all my add-ons! I couldn't imagine downloading a file, that when unzipped, is this large! December 30, 201312 yr Author Very good point, Jesse. Well, the long wait for the X-Plane delivery begins. Mario Di Lauro
December 30, 201312 yr There are no serial keys involved. Just an asinine requirement to have the DVD in the drive while playing (screams early 2000's gaming) | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
December 30, 201312 yr You don't have to have the DVD in the drive create ISO image of DVD 1 and mount it with Power ISO or daemon tools easy. Cheers Wayne. http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART
December 30, 201312 yr Bought the USB stick for that purpose, but doing that or using a disc sure beats authentication! John John Wingold
